Chapter 12 Job Arrangement
- Over the next few days, Lewis thoroughly explored Saffron Group. Apart from a few dozen male security guards, all the other employees were women. It really was a Women's Kingdom.
- Standing outside Winona's office, Lewis was chatting with Janet.
- "Janet, I need to ask you something," Lewis said with a grin.
- Janet, 26 years old, had been working as Winona's secretary assistant since the founding of Saffron Group, making her a senior employee.
- After spending a few days together, Janet noticed some of Lewis's good qualities. Not only was he handsome, but he was also quite humorous, even if his jokes were a bit risqué.
- "What do you want to know? Just ask," Janet replied.
- "Is our company hiring?" Lewis asked seriously.
- "What's with that question? We don't hire men. Are you trying to get your girlfriend a job here?" Janet asked with a playful smile.
- "No, it's actually a girl I know. She's about to graduate from college. Do you know if there are any suitable positions for her?" Lewis asked.
- Janet thought momentarily and said, "The marketing department recently had a girl resign because she got married, so there's an open position. You could ask Ms. Tate, but it shouldn't be a problem."
- Back at home, after Lewis discussed with Winona, she wanted to find out which girl had captured Lewis's attention so much that he asked her for a job. Lewis had told Winona he was an orphan without any family. Could it be his girlfriend?
- After getting Winona's approval, Lewis informed Sacha to prepare to start working at Saffron Group the next day, making it easier for him to look after her.
- The next day, at Winona's office in Saffron Group.
- Knock! Knock! Knock!
- Hearing the knock, Winona looked up from her desk. Lewis entered with a smile, accompanied by a tall, ponytailed girl with a delicate nose and small mouth. Her face was smooth as porcelain, exuding a lively, youthful aura from head to toe.
- "Ms. Tate, this is Sacha Cox, a recent graduate from Oakdale University in Kloria. Take a look," Lewis introduced with a smile.
- "Hello, Ms. Tate!" Sacha said, dressed casually.
- Seeing this vibrant young woman, Winona felt a pang of jealousy. She wondered where Lewis had met her, sensing his deep affection for the girl from his demeanour.
- "Lewis, step out for a moment. I need to talk with Sacha," Winona ordered, hoping to subtly inquire about their relationship.
- After Lewis left, Winona's cold gaze scrutinised Sacha up and down. With an icy demeanour, she said, "I don't care what relationship you have with Lewis. Since you're here, you must work diligently. If you have the ability, I won't overlook you."
- Sacha felt a slight nervousness in her heart. She had heard of Winona's name before, and rumours outside painted her as a frosty queen. Now, seeing her in person, Sacha found Winona to be as beautiful and aloof as described. Moreover, achieving such success at a young age genuinely impressed her.
- "Yes, Ms. Tate. I'll do my best and won't let you down," Sacha replied earnestly.
- Winona picked up the phone and called for Shirley Greenwood, the marketing manager, to come to her office.
- Five minutes later, a mature and alluring woman with a striking figure stood before Winona.
- "Ms. Tate, you called for me?" Shirley asked.
- "Ms. Greenwood, this is Sacha Cox. The marketing department needs an extra hand, and I'm assigning her to you. Train her well," Winona instructed with a blank expression.
- "Nice to meet you, Ms. Greenwood," Sacha said with a smile.
- Shirley nodded in acknowledgement. Since entering the office, she had already noticed this youthful and attractive girl. There was hardly anything to fault about her appearance, making her well-suited for marketing. However, she would need some time to mentor her.
- Shirley's work capability was exceptionally strong, for which Winona had invested heavily to recruit her. Like Winona in Saffron Group, she was a tough iron lady, and none dared to defy her authority.
- "Since it's Ms. Tate's order, I'll train her well. But if her abilities don't measure up, I hope you won't blame me," Shirley responded.
- "Alright, take Sacha to get familiar with her role. Then, go to the HR department to fill out the paperwork. Today will count as her official start," Winona said, waving them off.
- "Follow me, I'll show you around," Shirley said to Sacha.
- With elegant grace, Shirley led the way while Sacha nervously followed. From a distance, Lewis watched the whole scene unfold.
- The sales department wasn't large, consisting of just five people. Still, it held significant power within the company as it controlled and managed all sales operations.
- The marketing department is on the 29th floor. At this moment, several people in the office are leisurely drinking coffee and chatting.
- Upon entering, Shirley introduced Sacha to her new colleagues: Anya Whitlock, Lucy Sherman, Freya Ellington, Giselle Marlowe, and Penelope Wainwright.
- "Who's available to help our new colleague settle in?" Shirley asked the group.
- "Hi, everyone, I'm Sacha Cox. Nice to meet you all," Sacha greeted them cheerfully.
- At least she's not just a bookworm and knows a bit about socialising, the group silently assessed.
- No one volunteered. Training a newbie could be a thankless task. If the new hire failed, the mentor would be blamed, and if she succeeded, there'd be no reward. The silent consensus was clear. No one wanted the job.
- Lewis observed from a distance, ready to step in if anyone mistreated Sacha. He didn't care if the offender was a woman; he'd set things right. Worst case, he'd quit and set up a business for Sacha. There was no way he'd let her suffer.
- As Shirley was about to assign someone, the company's kind-hearted and gentle Lucy said, "Ms. Greenwood, I'll help her out."
- Finally, someone took charge. Shirley nodded in satisfaction. "Alright then, Lucy, take good care of her," she said approvingly.
- Lewis watched the petite, sweet girl from a distance, feeling satisfied. He'd spent the past few days gathering information about the company's staff and knew Lucy had a good reputation. Maintaining a positive image in a company with hundreds of employees was either a sign of genuine kindness or excellent acting.
- Seeing Sacha easily integrate with her new colleagues, chatting and laughing, relieved Lewis.
- In just a few days, Sacha settled in well. With Lewis's arrangement, she moved into the company dormitory to share a room with Lucy. This way, Lewis no longer had to worry about her well-being, lifting a significant weight off his shoulders.
