Chapter 55 Awakening
- KATE
- The only thing I remember is getting shot just as Taylor was pulling me out of the car. After that, I don't remember anything; it was all like a black blur to me. The pain was unbearable, impossible to describe. I thought I was going to die. When I woke up, the doctor informed me where I had been shot and that I was lucky to be alive because the bullet missed my heart by just 3 cm. It felt like being reborn; I'm grateful for that. He told me that I had undergone surgery and had been unconscious for over 24 hours, and that I would now be moved from the ICU to a regular room to be observed for a few days. But if necessary, I could be discharged and monitored at home.
- I wish I were near home, in my beautiful apartment, but at this point, it's the last place I can be... Taylor was right to protect me so much. I was naive to think he wouldn't harm the people I love. If it weren't for Lauren, it could have been my brother, and if I hadn't been the one shot, it could have been Taylor. I don’t even like to think about it. Lost in thought, I don't hear the doctor calling me; he approaches and examines me to check if I'm okay. With a dry throat, I affirm that I am.
