Chapter 40 Revealing Interests

• I'm in Paris, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. I need to see how she is doing; the difficult part will be getting into the room without the security noticing, but it's worth a try.
• From a distance, I watch Kate's brother leave the room. What's he doing here? He was supposed to be traveling somewhere. He must have come because of what happened to her. He steps away with the security guard, giving me the chance to slip into the room. As I enter, I see her sleeping. She seems to be okay, not on any machines, which means it wasn’t too serious. I read her medical chart and discover that the bullet missed her heart by just a few centimeters, which makes me feel terrible. I didn’t want to hurt her.
