Chapter 41 Asking Favors
- The night was young in the world of Sweet Haven, clients, service girls, and everyone involved. Marie led the way as Denny Vero had invited, but the path seemed paved for them to pass by without people noticing or watching. Yet Trisha pretended she was asleep. They arrived at her room with Marie standing outside Trisha's door. Denny placed Trisha carefully on her bed and reminded her to be careful and not move too much again.
- Marie, from a distance, was so amused to watch how Mister Vero was so attentive to Trisha. He looked like a dutiful husband to his expecting, pregnant wife. Marie is old enough to have seen such couples, and she had also been there. Although her marriage did not work out and she lost the child to miscarriage, she could still slightly compare Mister Vero to a husband attending carefully to his fragile wife with a baby in her womb. It made her smile. A sweet husband is always good to watch, even as a spectator alone. The door was not closed, so she could still see how Denny was asking Trisha if she needed anything before he decided to turn around and start to walk out the door.
- Denny saw Marie's face with a faint and hidden smile. He did not say anything against it. He walked past her, and knowing Marie was walking behind him, Denny asked something that had been bothering him ever since they were walking to Trisha's room.
