Chapter 9 The Perfect Man

  • At the hotel's entrance, the sponsor's representative had already made his appearance.
  • Leading the group was a tall, slender man with strikingly impeccable features; it was none other than Callum.
  • His gaze was frosty, his lips slightly pursed, exuding an extraordinary aura akin to a living ice sculpture.
  • “It's Callum, it's actually Callum!”
  • “Wow, he truly is handsome. No wonder he's hailed as the most perfect man in Hillscester!”
  • A buzz went through the crowd as Callum, under the vigilant eyes of his bodyguards, headed straight toward the hotel.
  • The director, James Wilson, quickly bowed to greet him, “Mr. Nicholson, welcome.”
  • Callum merely grunted an indifferent “mm” in acknowledgment.
  • “Honey, you're here!” Felicity cooed with sugary sweetness.
  • Privately, she wouldn't dare to be so affectionate, but publicly, she played up the intimacy, knowing he wouldn't reciprocate but wouldn't embarrass her either.
  • Callum glanced at her briefly, causing Felicity to retract her hand that was inching toward him.
  • “Let's get started; Mr. Nicholson's time is precious.”
  • Callum's assistant, Zayne Gingerwood, promptly intervened upon seeing the situation unfold.
  • Meanwhile, Sophie had noticed Raelynn's absence. She was in a state of panic, having been unable to locate her anywhere, and her calls went unanswered.
  • At the audition venue, James was about to commence auditions but realized Mialynn was missing, which left him mortified in front of Callum, his expression turning exceedingly severe.
  • He had the actress auditioning for the second female lead begin immediately.
  • Seeing the golden opportunity slipping away, Sophie grew even more desperate. She had searched the entire hotel to no avail and finally decided to call home directly.
  • From the other end of the phone, Heather's sweet, childish voice greeted, “Hello, this is Ms. Chapman's residence, and I am the universally adored beauty, Heather...”
  • “Cut the jokes, Heath. Is your mom home?”
  • “No, didn't Mommy go for an audition?”
  • “Yes, but she's missing now. Even if she hasn't come home, you kids stay well-behaved. I have to hang up now.”
  • As she finished speaking, the dial tone resounded.
  • Heather rushed into the room, diving into her brother's arms who was engrossed in playing on the computer.
  • “Reagan, this is bad! Mommy's gone missing!”
  • Reagan frowned. “Mommy went to an audition. How could she just disappear?”
  • “Ms. Chapman said Mommy vanished from the audition venue,” she replied.
  • Reagan stopped his game instantly and shut down the computer.
  • He remembered Sophie mentioning Royal Hotel as the audition location yesterday. With his chubby fingers flying across the keyboard, Reagan hacked into the hotel's surveillance system in under a minute.
  • Exceptionally bright, Reagan had won a prestigious computer programming contest while abroad and was handling such tasks with ease.
  • However, as soon as he accessed the surveillance system, he saw that some cameras in key areas of Royal Hotel had been manually disabled half an hour ago.
  • Reagan's brow furrowed deeply as he immediately called Sophie.
  • “Ms. Chapman, I think something's happened to Mommy. Could you check with the receptionist? Ask if they've seen anyone suspicious leaving with large luggage recently.”
