Chapter 8 The Confrontation

  • Deep into the night, Raelynn closed the script and briefly shut her weary eyes.
  • She reached for the wallet on her bedside table and opened it. Tucked inside was a shimmering button.
  • Five years earlier, during that chaotic night, not only had she gained two children, but this solitary button had also been left with her.
  • The button was black, and ornately designed, with a tiny letter “N” engraved on it.
  • Raelynn absentmindedly caressed the button, lost in her thoughts. She couldn't quite grasp why she had kept the button.
  • That night, five years ago, had been a complete nightmare. Raelynn had never thought to seek out that man. Whenever the children inquired about him, she simply said their father was lost.
  • After a moment, Raelynn composed herself and returned the button to the wallet.
  • The audition Is scheduled for tomorrow, and Felicity will definitely be there. She definitely knows the man from that night...
  • The next day, at the opulent Royal Hotel, the auditions for Thunder Two were underway.
  • Dressed in sumptuous attire, Felicity made her entrance, flanked by her manager and assistant.
  • The reporters, who had been waiting since early morning, quickly gathered around.
  • “Ms. Lorenzo, you gained fame with Thunder years ago, and now, five years later, you're filming Thunder Two. What are your thoughts on this?”
  • “Ms. Lorenzo, after Thunder was released, the audience had mixed reactions to your acting. Are you confident about your performance in Thunder Two?”
  • Felicity had a restless night, troubled by the events of the previous day.
  • When a reporter asked a subtly phrased yet unmistakably critical question about her acting, her expression immediately darkened.
  • “Everyone shut up! If you're so capable, why don't you try acting!”
  • Ophelia, taken aback by her outburst, immediately signaled for hotel security to escort Felicity inside.
  • “How many times have I told you not to offend the reporters?”
  • Felicity retorted, “I've endured them for too long. Those wretched reporters think they can provoke me? Their monthly salary wouldn't even cover the cost of one of my lipsticks—”
  • Her expression hostile, she glanced up and caught sight of a familiar face. “Wait here, don't follow me, and keep everyone away.”
  • After she spoke, Felicity didn't wait for Ophelia's reaction and strode directly toward Raelynn.
  • When she heard footsteps, Raelynn turned and saw Felicity approaching, her expression twisted with malice.
  • They were in a secluded area. Realizing they were alone, Felicity immediately confronted her, “What are you doing here?”
  • “Why can't I be here if you can?”
  • “Dropped the act, have you? Weren't you calling yourself Mialynn just yesterday? What are you really here for?” Felicity gritted her teeth in anger at this detestable woman, who, like a bad penny, kept turning up.
  • “Of course, it's for an audition. I'm looking forward to your guidance, Superstar Felicity,” Raelynn replied with a smile, her eyes icy.
  • “You can forget about being in the movie. Leave now, get out!”
  • Raelynn couldn't understand why Felicity always became so agitated at her presence. Even if she had successfully auditioned and joined the cast, it wouldn't threaten the latter's position.
  • “Unfortunately, you're not the director, so your words carry no weight. Even if you don't want me here, I'm determined to audition.”
  • Felicity's face contorted with frustration.
  • After five years, Raelynn had indeed become more infuriating. Previously, a mere hint of a threat would have been enough to make her back down and accept her fate.
  • Felicity was about to speak when her phone suddenly rang.
  • Ophelia was on the other end, informing her that the sponsor representative was arriving soon and urging her to change her outfit quickly.
  • A wave of anxiety washed over Felicity; it was just her luck that the one who arrived was Callum.
  • She was determined to prevent Raelynn from appearing before Callum.
  • If they crossed paths, and it led to the discovery of a child who bore a striking resemblance to Callum, it could spell trouble.
  • She clutched her phone, watching Raelynn, who had already walked away, suddenly flashing a chilling smile.
  • As Raelynn was walking, a man approached her, “Hello, are you here for the audition?”
  • Alert, Raelynn quickly glanced at the other party's work badge. Only after confirming its authenticity, did she nod slightly.
  • “Then, please follow me.”
  • As they moved deeper, the surroundings grew more secluded, the atmosphere increasingly tranquil.
  • Just as Raelynn was about to inquire further, the man suddenly spun around, pressing a damp handkerchief against her mouth and nose.
