Chapter 2 Pregnant

  • Covering her mouth, Felicity quickly adopted a demure expression. “You know, you were my first... You have to take responsibility for me...”
  • The man's eyebrows drew together slightly before he handed her a business card. “Certainly, you can have everything you desire.”
  • After these words, he strode purposefully out of the room.
  • As soon as the door shut, Felicity jumped up and passionately kissed the golden business card, exclaiming, “From now on, Hillscester is mine!”
  • Meanwhile, Raelynn rushed out of the club and immediately located the nearest ATM.
  • Inserting the card, she checked the balance and upon seeing the one million, she breathed a sigh of relief.
  • Thankfully, her mother's treatment could now be funded.
  • Holding the card, Raelynn quickly flagged down a taxi and sped to the hospital.
  • Yet, when she arrived at her mother's hospital ward, the bed was empty.
  • She approached a nurse urgently, “Excuse me, could you tell me where the patient from Bed 203 has been moved?”
  • The nurse looked up with a creased forehead. “You're the daughter of the patient from Bed 203, aren't you? Where were you last night? We tried contacting you.”
  • Her tone carried a hint of reproof, “How could a daughter not be at her mother's side when she passes away?”
  • Raelynn's mind reeled. “What are you saying? What happened to my mom?”
  • The nurse's expression turned sour as she pulled away from Raelynn's grasping hand, “The patient in Bed 203 passed away this morning despite our best efforts to save her.”
  • “No, that's impossible! My mom was just fine yesterday. Impossible! You must be lying to me!” Raelynn's voice was incredulous, her gaze empty as she murmured, “This isn't happening... It's impossible...”
  • A sudden thought made her frantically search through her bag. Items tumbled to the floor as she finally located the bank card.
  • “My mother had outstanding medical bills, didn't she? That's why you've hidden her away, right? I've got the money now, I can pay! Please, I beg you, save her quickly...”
  • The nurse looked at the utterly distraught Raelynn and sighed deeply. “You should go to the morgue to claim the body. My condolences.”
  • After managing her mother's funeral in a daze, Raelynn returned to school.
  • However, she barely interacted with anyone and constantly looked at her mother's memorial photo on her phone.
  • Two months after her mother's death, Raelynn had lost a staggering thirty-three pounds. During a lecture, she suddenly fainted, and her classmates quickly took her to the hospital.
  • In the hospital, the attending doctor sternly informed her, “You've been pregnant for two months. If you don't start taking proper care of your nutrition, it could severely harm your unborn child.”
  • This news struck Raelynn like a bolt from the blue, leaving her as pale as a ghost.
  • That chaotic night had resulted in pregnancy.
  • Upon hearing the news, Raelynn's stepmother, Yasmine Lorenzo, excitedly shared it with her daughter over the phone. “Fel, you wouldn't believe it, that little wretch Raelynn is pregnant! Your father will definitely not let this slide; he will surely kick her out!”
  • On the film set, Felicity's face fell when she heard the news. “Mom, you have to make sure Raelynn aborts the child!”
  • Yasmine, confused, asked, “But why?”
  • Felicity, panicked and sweating, replied, “Mom, please don't ask questions. All I can say is that my future depends on it. Can you make sure she doesn't have the baby?”
  • Although puzzled by the request, Yasmine, seeing her daughter's distress, took it very seriously. Without delay, she and Raelynn's father, Jonathan Norris, went to the hospital where Raelynn was being treated.
