Chapter 5 Doubts Breed Fear

  • Holding the child, Felicity was filled with uncertainty, but when faced with the camera, she still managed to muster a professional smile.
  • “I'm sorry, Miss. My ice cream melted...” Heather said in her childlike voice.
  • Felicity lowered her gaze and saw that the ice cream had indeed melted, dripping onto her expensive red dress.
  • Her expression soured immediately; she hastily set Heather down, her face contorted with disgust and devoid of any pretense of a smile.
  • Startled by the rough handling, Heather's face paled, and she quickly turned and ran.
  • Sophie, who had been waiting anxiously, sighed in relief only when she saw Heather returning.
  • Reagan, ever composed, commented, “I told you, she would find her way back on her own.”
  • Meanwhile, Felicity's expression was marred by displeasure. “I need to go to the restroom. This dress is ruined; how am I supposed to wear it now?” she complained.
  • Escorted by her bodyguard, Felicity entered the restroom and was surprised to see a familiar face.
  • She couldn't believe her eyes. Raelynn had disappeared five years ago without any trace.
  • Yet here she was, the face Felicity had envied for nearly twenty years. She knew she would recognize it anywhere.
  • “Raelynn, you're not dead!” she exclaimed.
  • Raelynn's face remained impassive. “You've mistaken me for someone else; my name is Mialynn Dennis.”
  • As she turned to leave, Felicity reached out to stop her.
  • “No, I'm not mistaken. You are Raelynn. Where have you been all this time?”
  • Raelynn shook off her hand without engaging further and walked out of the restroom.
  • Felicity wanted to follow but suddenly found herself rooted to the spot. She recalled the child she had seen earlier, noting a resemblance to Callum.
  • Driven by a sudden impulse and disregarding the stains on her dress, Felicity dashed out, intent on chasing after Raelynn, but the latter had vanished without a trace.
  • Seeing her burst out of the restroom like a madwoman, Ophelia became instantly concerned. “You're a public figure, what are you doing?” she demanded.
  • Once Felicity had regained some composure, she remembered the photos taken by the reporters earlier. If those photos reaches Callum...
  • “Quick, get in touch with the reporters who were here today,” she ordered. “Stop them from releasing any photos they took.”
  • “Why on earth would you not want the journalists to publish the photos? It's a perfect promotional opportunity, and you suddenly want to scrap it. I need an explanation,” Ophelia insisted.
  • Ophelia, a top celebrity manager at Golden Glory Entertainment, was adept at boosting artists' careers. She had propelled many to fame, but Felicity's sudden change in behavior was puzzling to her.
  • Nevertheless, Felicity couldn't share the heavy secrets of her past. That enormous secret was hers alone and couldn't be revealed to anyone else.
  • Her success in the entertainment industry wasn't just about her acting skills, but also her relationship with Callum, which had brought her immense respect and status.
  • If Callum were to see the child's photo, suspect something, and start digging into the child's background, uncovering events from five years ago...
  • Felicity couldn't bear to think of the possible repercussions.
