Chapter 5 Where Have You Been All These Years
- The handsome man who had already stepped through the door stopped in his tracks. His eyes were cold, and the corners of his crimson-red lips curved upwards.
- Zachary, who was behind Jonathan, bowed slightly. "Mr. Barker, do you need me to explain things to the madam?"
- "That won't be necessary." Jonathan turned around. The cold demeanor he was born with seemed to make him unapproachable.
- Though destined to be different from everyone else, there were moments when he wished he was not the most powerful and one of the most influential people in Cythais.
- He stood inside The Aether Hotel, the most luxurious hotel in the heart of the city.
- While looking at Cythais' nightscape from high above, like an emperor, he recalled the hazy memory of that night. The satisfaction he felt was like nothing he had felt before. It was addictive.
- There was no doubt that he liked that taste and only that taste.
- However, every time he looked at Chloe's pretentious face, he could not help but feel disgusted. He could not figure out how he managed to sleep with her in the first place.
- In order to make up for his mistake that night, he even gave her the best opportunity one could have—to transform from a poor woman to a company president. These compensations should have been enough.
- "Mr. Barker, Mr. Wyatt has sent you a bottle of red wine. He said that it was from overseas. Would you like to keep it?" Zachary cautiously held the bottle of red wine and stood behind Jonathan.
- Jonathan glanced over lazily and said, "Throw it away."
- "Okay." Zachary stepped back respectfully.
- While looking at the night view outside, Jonathan felt moody. "Wait. Leave the bottle of wine."
- Zachary placed the bottle down before he left.
- The wine was rich and intoxicating. Shortly after he finished a glass, Jonathan started to feel sleepy. He thought he was exhausted after a full day of work, but upon turning the lights off, he felt a burning sensation in his abdomen, and a menacing expression appeared on his icy face.
- Jonathan was furious as he did not expect someone to be daring enough to trick him right under his nose. His body exuded a murderous aura. At the same time, he heard a muffled sound from the balcony, as though someone was trying to sneak in.
- Sure enough, he saw a dark figure appear a few seconds later. From the balcony, the figure sneaked into the room and bumped right into Jonathan. The man sneered. Again, with these tricks.
- When he forcefully grabbed the intruder's wrist, he heard a woman's low grunt, which sounded a little sexual.
- Jonathan was extremely disgusted and tightened his grip, causing more pain to the woman.
- "You are hurting me!" Eloise, who had just escaped from the adjacent room, did not expect to bump into a lunatic. She explained, "I was just passing by. I will leave immediately."
- In the dark, a hint of surprise flashed across Jonathan's eyes. The woman's voice sounded familiar, but he could not recall where he had heard it.
- The woman's body was cold, and the hand that Jonathan grasped was small and slippery. At that moment, the churning sensation in his stomach increased, making him very uncomfortable.
- The woman in front of him smelled oddly fragrant!
- After explaining things, Eloise thought she could leave but did not expect the man to suddenly lean toward her and pin her against the wall with an unusual posture.
- Eloise was shocked.
- What is he up to? Dude, I'm just passing by! What are you trying to do?
- Sensing something amiss about the situation, Eloise pushed against the man's chest in panic. However, she did not know that her icy cold hands only made Jonathan even more uncomfortable as his stomach churned even more.
- His clear eyes suddenly turned hazy.
- Eloise subconsciously wanted to move away but found herself cornered. As her heart thumped, she saw a long, slender hand sweeping across the bar counter in the dark to pick up a bottle of wine.
- Her lips twitched as she thought, I'm just passing through. Is it necessary to hit me with a wine bottle?
- "Mmm." In the midst of her panic, she felt a cold and hard object being forced into her mouth. The rich aroma of wine instantly pulled her back to reality. The man had stuffed the bottle into her mouth!
- To make matters worse, he even forced the wine down her throat!
- Eloise was stunned and then slapped the bottle away in anger. But the man roughly grabbed her chin, which immobilized her instantly. She screamed in a hoarse voice, "You b*stard! I have already apologized to you. What more do you want from me?"
- "Haha!" Jonathan's eyes were void of emotions. "First, you drugged me, and then you sneaked into my room. Do you think that I would believe you?"
- Eloise thought that he was crazy. "I did not. You're—Mmm… B*stard!"
- She only managed to let out a few words. Her small and weak frame was not a match for the man, and he forced her to chug down half of the bottle of wine.
- I feel terrible...
- Eloise gradually got tired of struggling and slid down the wall. The dark room suddenly brightened up as the lunatic switched on the lights and with his back to Eloise. He was calling someone.
- "Yes, a thief. Call the police too, and make sure she spends the rest of her life in prison."
- A thief?
- With her stomach filled with wine, Eloise grabbed the corner of the table and groggily stood up. Her eyes were unfocused due to being drunk. Unsure whether it was due to the drug or the man's actions, Eloise angrily picked up the empty bottle of wine in her dizzy state.
- Bam!
- Jonathan collapsed onto the ground!
- The phone in his hand fell to the ground with him.
- Seeing that the call had not ended, Eloise picked up the phone and said, "You don't need to call the police. You should call for an ambulance."
- Zachary felt confused.
- Is that a woman's voice? What is going on? Was Mr. Barker fooling around with a woman? Did something happen?
- "What is going on?" Zachary questioned.
- However, Eloise had hung up the phone and was tugging at her collar uncomfortably.
- It was time to leave this place. Otherwise, it would be troublesome if someone came.
- Eloise had just walked out of the hotel when she saw a fleet of police cars whizzing past her, with an ambulance following behind. Shortly after that, she saw them sealing the entrance of the hotel. It was fortunate that Eloise had left, or else she would have been trapped inside. However, she was unsure why she felt even more uncomfortable as time passed.
- While overseas, she had drunk more alcohol than this but never felt this way. What is going on?
- Eloise did not get far before her eyelids grew heavy, and she stumbled forward. Unbeknownst to her, a car had stopped in front of her, and before she knew it, she was already sitting on the floor.
- A man got out of the black Ferrari. He was quite young and looked exceptionally handsome.
- At first, Eloise could not make out who it was. Only when he stood before Eloise did she realize that it was Dexter.
- What is he doing here?
- "Elly, where have you been all these years?" Dexter agitatedly grabbed Eloise's shoulders and interrogated her.
- Eloise felt her body burning. She bit her lips and pushed Dexter aside. "Don't touch me."
- "I am your boyfriend. Why can't I touch you? Why did you leave me for Mr. Wyatt? Am I not good enough for you? Why did you have to treat me that way?" Dexter questioned. It had been six years. He had waited six years for her, yet she told him not to touch her upon their meeting.
- Does she want me gone so badly?
