Chapter 12 ''At The Store''

• A few weeks had passed, and Bethany hadn’t heard a word from Jason. Her phone calls went straight to voicemail, each unanswered ring a piercing reminder of his absence.
• During breakfast with Alicia, Bethany’s worry bubbled over. “Alicia, have you heard from Jason? I’ve been trying to reach him, but he hasn’t returned any of my calls.”
• Alicia shifted uncomfortably, a hint of unease in her voice. “I think he’s been really busy,” she said, quickly changing the subject. “Do you want some more coffee?”
