Chapter 6 She Met An Old Friend

• A week passed and she was done applying to the different companies that dealt with design even to those that were out of town.
• She knows that it might be hard to leave her grandfather once she get a job that will make her leave town but she needs the job.
• She has to gain some experience otherwise her life will continue being in a stand still. She was tired of not being able to reach her full potential.
• After a month of applying to various companies, she was called for an interview at one big design company.
• She went for the job interview and it went perfectly well. She was very positive that she nailed it. She knew that this job was hers the moment she left the company.
• She decided to go to a restaurant and have lunch then look for houses near the company. Yes, she was very positive that this position will be given to her.
• She sat down and ordered some juice while looking at the menu. She heard someone say, "am I seeing things or things are seeing me. Could this really be you Faith?"
• She looked up and wondered who this man before her was. She really could not remember who he was.
• He felt ashamed because he even knew her name. He said to her, "aren't you Faith Lee?"
• She said, "I am and you are?"
• He said, "Brandon Friedman. You don't remember me, we grew up as neighbours but my parents then moved to country Y."
• Faith said, "oh no! Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. Wow! You have grown. I couldn't even recognise you. What has made you to be able to recognise me. We have not seen each other for more than fifteen years but you can still see me."
• He smiled and said, "there was no way I wouldn't be able to recognise such a beautiful girl. I remember that most boys used to fight to play with you."
• She smiled and said, "gosh, don't remind me of that. I hated it more than anything and you were the only one that removed them from my eyes."
• He smiled and said, "I didn't like seeing that beautiful face of yours cry. It used to bring me so much joy to see you smile."
• She smiled then took a sip on her drink. Brandon said, "what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in country X or have you guys moved back to your grandfather's home country?"
• She smiled and said, "yes, grandpa and I have moved. We are now living in this country. My mom and grandmother died few years back. It's just me and grandpa now. He is old and has always wished to die at his home country. He has been begging me for this and I finally decided to give him what he always wished for. After all there was nothing for me to lose."
• Brandon said, "I remember that your grandfather had a farm back in this country but what are you doing in the city?"
• Faith said, "I applied for a job and I was called for an interview. I am going back to my grandfather's farm tomorrow."
• Brandon said, "oh really, what job have you applied for? And which company is it?"
• Faith said, "there is a position of a jewellery designer in Rose's jewellery company."
• Brandon said, "oh wow! I can not believe that you followed your mom's footsteps in designing. I remember that when I saw you designing, I used to think that you are only doing it because your mom was doing it as a part time job. I didn't know that it was your passion."
• She smiled and did not respond to that but instead she asked, "what about you? Aren't you supposed to be in country Y?"
• He said, "I studied medicine and was hired as a doctor in this city. I have been working here for five years now. My dad died after my graduation and it has been just me and my mom. I couldn't leave her in country Y so I came to live with her this side."
• She said, "wow! A doctor? You have also followed your father's footsteps."
• He smiled and said, "yes I did even though my mom was always against it. She wanted me to do anything else but not be a doctor."
• She smiled and said, "your dad must have been one of the doctors that was spending most of his time in the hospital which is why your mother hated the profession."
• He smiled and said, "yes he was, after we moved to country Y. He rarely came home. He was always in the hospital and on call when not in the hospital. Such that we even moved to a flat close to the hospital because our house was far from the hospital. He would say that driving thirty minutes to the hospital when there was an emergency was not ideal. The patient will die while the doctor is still on his way. Sometimes we would walk to the hospital to give him food. He rarely had time to eat food which lead him to have stomach problems."
• She said, "then that is the main reason why your mother did not want you to be a doctor."
• Brandon said, "I promised her to always eat, which is why I always come to get my food here. It's the only best restaurant in the city and it is also close to the hospital."
• Faith said, "it's good that you find some time to take care of your body. Sometimes when one works, he or she seems to forget that eating can make her always be able to work."
• Brandon said, "yes that is true. Are you aware that the company you went for an interview in is one of the best companies in the country. You are very lucky to be called by that company for an interview. Many jewellery designers wish to work there. They say that getting hired there is not very easy."
• Faith was very shocked, she said, "oh! I didn't know. I am new not only in the country but also in the industry."
• Brandon was shocked and he found himself saying, "where have you been all these years? Or did you do your master's degree the moment you finished your bachelor's degree?"
• Faith smiled and she was not in a mood to tell him all about herself, so she said, "that is a story for another day. Let me not keep you waiting."
• Brandon said, "oh don't worry about me. I will sit down with you and eat. It will be better that way."
• The waitress came over and she ordered her meal then she received a call from the old man. She said to him, "grandpa, I will call you when I get to the hotel. I know you definitely can not wait for me to tell you all about the interview."
• Her grandfather smiled then said, "ok, don't let me go to sleep tonight without letting me know how it went."
• She said, "I won't grandpa, bye."
• Brandon asked, "why don't you tell the old man now."
• Faith said, "because I know that we might take thirty minutes on this conversation and it's rude to be on the phone when you are with someone."
• Brandon was very happy to hear her say this. She is a very sensible woman. He realised that he was ticking lots of boxes about this woman.
• He smiled and said, "I am happy to see you and I also pray you get the job so that I can see more of you in this city."
• Faith smiled and said, "I also hope I will pass the interview. I need to get out of my grandfather's nest and be my own person."
• Food was served before he could answer that. They ate while recapping on events that happened when they were young.
• Just when they were about to finish eating, Brandon received a call from the hospital. There was an accident that happened on the highway.
• Doctors and nurses were needed in their numbers because the accident involved more than ten casualties.
• He quickly stood up and waved goodbye to her then rushed out of the restaurant. He was a very dedicated man when it comes to doing his job well.
• Faith shook he head when she saw how he rushed out. She finished her food and paid the bill. Then she decided to do some window shopping.
• While at a clothing store, she received a phone call from the company and she was told that she has passed the interview.
• She was very shocked and she was told that she is expected to start work Monday morning. They are giving her this time to get a place so that she can be closer to her workplace.
• She was so excited and there was only one person, she wanted to share these good news with and that was her grandfather.
