Chapter 17 Building Bridges

  • After one week in Hawaii, Marcus and I returned to LA while still aboard the private jet we took to get there. Instead of heading straight to my previous residence, which was my parents' house, I would now be joining Marcus. He has his own house and that's where we'll be living as a married couple.
  • When we left the resort in Hawaii that Marcus and I visited, I couldn't help but feel sad because I would miss the beauty of that place, and I couldn't forget what happened there, especially in our villa. Yes, I admit that I'm starting to have feelings for Marcus, but I'm trying to suppress them while it's still early. I've never had a boyfriend in my entire life, so I don't know what love really is and how you can tell if you love someone. For now, all I want is to have a good relationship with Marcus. I know I can't avoid him, and I can't escape this marriage because I'm already married to Marcus, officially a Halloway. I just want to avoid becoming like my parents. If I do have children with Marcus, I don't want my child to experience what Eleanor and I went through, and I don't want Marcus to be like my father.
  • "This will be your new home," Marcus said as we entered our new house as a married couple.
