Chapter 11 The Reluctant Wife
- Standing in front of the big mirror, adorned in a simple wedding gown and a small veil on my head, all I can say now is that I'm getting married... for real. However, I am not happy. This is the worst day of my life; I am marrying a man I don't like, someone I've hated my whole life. I want to run away, but I know if I do that, my family will be furious, and Marcus will find me and punish me for the rest of my life.
- "Evie?"
- I blinked my eyes and paused in my thoughts when I saw Eleanor entering my room. Marcus and I are getting married at our home, and only our families are attending, no one else. It's fine with me because I really don't care about our wedding. I haven't told my only friend Tristan yet, and I know that when I do, he'll be surprised and upset with me. But I believe Tristan will understand why I didn't invite him to this wedding; I really don't want it. Perhaps I'll make it up to him when he gets married—I'll attend his wedding no matter what.
