Chapter 4

  • Chloe’s POV
  • I was silent all through the drive, but I had my eyes wide open looking at all the turns we made and the direction they were taking me to. I was strangely comfortable, I thought I would be scared, but it was odd that I felt safe with these strangers. I had no idea who they were.
  • They drove towards a large building and for a moment I gasped at the space, the garden, and the beauty. There were tall trees at each side of the lane we drove through and for a moment the road seemed long and I didn't want the car to stop either.
  • This place was beautiful, the sun shone high and the flowers bloomed. I could see birds flying high in the sky and I thought I was in a wonderland. I looked at the driver who was driving down the lane which looked like it was owned by the same person.
  • “Umm...excuse me.”
  • “Yes, Miss." The man driving the car answered me kindly.
  • "Do I really have to be here?" I asked just to make sure, I could see a big mansion in front and it was glamorous, my lips parted and my eyes fixed on the building.
  • Was I in paradise?
  • "Yes Miss, you were specifically invited by our boss." He spoke kindly again and I exhaled sharply, now my heart began to beat. Who was this boss they constantly talked about? Does he not have a name?
  • The car came to a stop in the garage and the driver stepped out of the car and the bodyguard who I hadn't heard spoke a word. The bodyguard held the car door open and I glanced up at him before stepping out of the car.
  • "Thank you," I said softly and he only nodded, no trace of a smile on his lips but his eyes seemed kind.
  • "This way Miss," The one who had been driving the car pointed towards the mansion and I raised my eyes to take in the surroundings, I was in and the building that looked so tall, beautiful, and extraordinary. Whoever owned this place must be wealthy, too wealthy and it made a cold run down my spine.
  • "I will lead the way, Miss." The man said again and headed towards the door.
  • I swallowed hard as I mentally started recalling all I had done last week. I had not offended anyone and I had been respectful to all the guests who I had served at the restaurant. I was not a troublesome person.
  • My breathing became heavy as I followed the man. I was wrong when I said I was comfortable, I would have been if it was just the bodyguard and this man who had said nothing but kind words to me. Now I have to face the man who I only know as boss.
  • Who could this be, why did I feel so uneasy and why was I sweating on my palm as if I had done something wrong?
  • The large glass door opened and I stepped inside, the cold air filled my lungs and I gasped. I was wrong when I said the house looked glamorous, it was more than glamorous, any other words for a paradise should be preferable to describe this place.
  • I couldn't move at first, I just stared at the place I had stepped into with wide pupils, the stoned tile, the color of the building that was only painted white and without spot, the tall French windows, the large green and beautiful flowers, and the interior decoration. It was awesome.
  • There were a few artistic drawings hung on the wall and each drawing had a different feeling, which told me one thing, the owner of this building would be a lover of good things. I chuckled at myself, does every man not like good things?
  • "Sir, Miss Chloe is here." I heard the driver tell someone who would be the boss and worst of all he knew my name all these while but had only called me Miss, but I shook the thoughts off my mind. He must have heard my name when my supervisor called it out.
  • "Send her up." I heard a deep voice say and my head prickled, the voice was the opposite of kind, it was terrifying and cold.
  • "Miss, you should go upstairs, he will see you now." I looked at the man who had brought me here with fright in my eyes, I could see him heading back to the entrance and I wanted to call out to him to stop and not leave me alone in this unfamiliar place, but I just couldn't.
  • Once the man left, I glanced up the stairs and exhaled sharply clutching my bag to take a grip of myself, I found the courage and took the first step up the stairs and many more, this was not part of my day plan, but to thank the person who had ordered them to save me from my supervisor, then I have to meet him.
  • I got upstairs and it was a different decoration from downstairs. It was amazing but plain. I didn't have time to take a look at the art and decorations. I was occupied with staring at the man who was standing close to the French window with his back turned at me.
  • He was not what I had expected or who I had imagined him to be, I was expecting to see a man in his forties, but this man was looking so young but so handsome and stunning, he was wearing navy blue trousers and a white shirt, his two hands were in his suit pocket and he was tall and looked like a model who had walked into my dream, but that wasn't why I was staring at him, he looked familiar.
  • "Welcome to my home, Chloe." The man turned around to face me and for a moment I held my breath and was unable to move as my eyes dilated in shock at the sight of the person who was standing right in front of me.
