• "Remove her handcuffs. I'd like to hear her side," Queen Heather commanded. At her order, the female guard unlocked my wrists. I retrieved a piece of paper from my pocket, glancing at it for reference.
• "I need to correct the narrative that's been spun by your queen, Heather," I began, meeting her gaze. "The late Queen Veronica made an alteration to her will. She added a clause stating that if the citizens of this realm are dissatisfied with her lineage's rule, I have the authority to step in and nominate a successor." I watched as Heather's face contorted with displeasure. "Jennifer was an influential witch, and she was close to Queen Veronica. Jennifer knew about this clause, and was summoned by the Council of Witches to validate it, providing evidence she possessed. But, when she arrived at the council chamber, five members of the witch council were found dead, and she was falsely accused of the crime. They further tarnished my reputation by claiming I had ordered Jennifer to commit the murders. Why would I do such a thing? What would I stand to gain?" I posed the question to the crowd and Queen Heather, whose attention shifted nervously to the high-ranking witches who had the power to dethrone her.
