Chapter 7

  • *LEILANI*
  • Cowering in fear by the corner of the room near the bed, I had my arms wrapped around my kneels that was pressed against my chest, feeling my body trembled as several images flashed through my mind. I was terrified and confused by the things I had seen. A werewolf and a vampire. Until today, I never thought that besides humans there'd be any other creatures, creatures I thought only existed in those fantasy books I read, now I discovered they were real_ the most concerning thing about all this was that I was now living amongst them and I'd given myself to one of them who was a vampire, a blood sucking creature. No wonder he had addressed me in a weird manner.
  • I thought I was saving myself, just to find out I entered right into hell. While I was deep in thought, a resounding knock came from the other side of the door immediately pulling me out of my trance and a gasp escaped my lips. I felt my heart beating profusely as I took my gaze to the direction of door, wondering who the person behind it could be. Was it the vampire? Or the werewolf who had addressed me strangely too? However for some reason, I'd much rather it was him than the vampire and perhaps it was because he didn't look at me like I was some sort of meal, ready to be devoured like Cardan did.
  • When the door swung open, I was slightly relieved as it wasn't neither of those men, but the girl I had earlier seen at the dinning hall, the girl who sat with the others at the table. she held a tray of food as she strolled into the room, taking a glance around until her gaze fell on me. I could tell she wasn't a maid, judging by her exquisite off-shoulder black dress that hugged her slim figure and the way she carried herself with grace. The girl who appeared to be around the same age as me gave me a gentle smile while her pair of golden eyes twinkle with both warmth and excitement. She was very beautiful with a dark as midnight hair that stopped above her waist. She was also tall, like those models you'd see on television and magazine. I also noticed she had a semblance to that man_ Cardan, perhaps she was his sister.
  • "Hello there, human girl," she waves her hand at me and when she began taking slow steps toward me, my gaze followed her every movement. I didn't make any move because I had no where to go as I had already leaned firmly against the wall, still bending down.
  • "It's okay, I won't hurt you. I come in peace," even the way she spoke was gentle and when she was just two steps away from me, she halted her movement.
  • "My name is Raelys, Raelys Grace Coleman, what is your name?"
  • I watched her for a while and after a few moments of silence, my answer came almost in a whisper. "Leilani."
  • "Leilani, that's a beautiful name," she commented as she lowered herself at the edge of the queen size bed near me.
  • "I brought you food. You weren't able to eat before because of my brothers, I apologize on their behalf."
  • Raelys was soft spoken and gave off a serene vibe, which made it nearly impossible to be wary of her. Before I knew it, I had slowly let down my guard even though I knew she was probably one of them, a vampire, perhaps a werewolf. I joined her on the bed where she set the tray of food between us.
  • Seeing the tray that consisted of pancakes and milk, my stomach growled. I was hungry, I didn't realize it until now as I was caught up in so many things. While I ate my food, Raelys sat quietly watching me. I wasn't too afraid of her, still I was nervous around her.
  • "You were with Cardan earlier, did he kidnap you?" She broke the slience when I was done with my meal.
  • "No," I bobbed my head.
  • "No? Then why were you with him?" Her gaze had turn curious, even her voice yet she was polite.
  • "He... He saved my life."
  • "He did!" She half yelled, her eyes growing wide in disbelief. "Cardan saved you? woah, this is news of the century but you must have offered something in return right?"
  • I nodded, "I offered to be his prey"
  • *Raelys's jaw dropped and her long eyes lashes constantly flickered. "You..." She couldn't continue whatever she wanted to say because this was something new and ulterly shocking. Who would offer themself as a prey, that to, to Cardan of all people, the ruthless king of predators? This human girl was probably not aware of what she'd gotten herself into but by the looks of it, she seems to be slowly realizing after withnessing the fight earlier. Raelys's felt pity for the human girl, especially after learning that she was Rhysand's mate. Raelys's knew that while Rhysand would do anything to protect the girl as she was his mate, Cardan on the other hand would stop at nothing to make her life miserable. The human girl would be caught in the web of her two brothers.
  • After chatting for a while with Leilani, Raelys left the room, making her way to her brother's quarters. Rhysand who was in his office glances up to look at the person who had the guts to barge in, his hands momentarily paused what they were doing, only continuing when he saw it was his little sister who strolled casually into the office with a smile on her face. Raelys's smile grew wider when she saw the wooden stake in Rhysand hands that he was sharpening with a knife.
  • "Are you going to plunge that into our brother's heart?" questioned Raelys although she felt bad for the human girl, there was a part of her that was looking forward to the drama that was going to unfold because of the girl. Things were going to get much more interesting.
