Chapter 2
- "Stop running Leilani. Where are you running to, you have no where else to go."
- Their voice was taunting and sadly their words were true. Still I kept running. Even though my body was growing weaker and weaker. I was completely drenched because of the storm earlier. I was cold, hungry, and my feets hurt badly. However, I knew I had to hold on just a little longer.
- Soon my eyes caught sight of the car garage ahead. There weren't many cars there, just about six or seven. if I could quickly get to one of those I thought, increasing my pace even though the pain in my leg was unbearable. Luckily, I was able to get to the garage, quickly hiding myself beside one of the cars.
- "You can't hide forever sweet little Lani, come out."
- "Lani... Lani... Leilani..."
- I didn't dare to move even though I could heard the sound of the men's voice and footsteps drawing nearer and nearer.
- Was this the end for me?
- Do I have to go back to that brothel after finally escaping?
- The more the sound of their voice drew closer, the more the rhythm and the pace of my heart beat increased.
- "She must be here somewhere, search thoroughly."
- I held my breath, while mumbling a silent prayer.
- 'Please God, save me. This can't be my fate. Oh God, you couldn't have chosen such a cruel fate for me. Is this perhaps punishment for my sins, but why something so harsh, why something so extreme?'
- My eyes burned with tears which I tried so much to hold back, clenching my fist at the same time, I shut my eyes in an attempt to calm my raging heart.
- "Move away from my car."
- My heart almost burst out of it's cage when I felt a presence behind me, followed by a man's deep voice. my eyes instantly shut open and I was first greeted by a pair of shinny black leather shoe and what followed as my eyes trailed upward was a man who wore a fitted black suit. He had a long raven black hair that had been styled neatly in a low bun, with some strands left in front. The man's appearance screamed perfection in a sinful way_ been called handsome couldn't have done justice to his looks. He had a perfectly structure nose, and a well defined chiseled face. His pair of dark eyes which held no ounce of emotion as he stare down at me were golden in color_how strange.
- "Are you deaf, move away from my car strange human girl, I have somewhere to be," the man sounded impatient, nonchalantly glancing at his golden wrist watch, before bringing his gaze back to me.
- I couldn't move. No, not now because that would spell the end for me. I would get caught and sent back to the brothel after a harsh punishment.
- 'Please,' I gave the man a pleading look without saying a word, at the same time, my name echoes through the garage.
- "Leilani, come out now. We're getting tired of playing hide and seek with you. You don't want your punishment to be harsh do you?"
- The strange man turn to look in the direction where the voice had come from, before bringing his gaze back to me.
- "Seem's like your people are here to find you, now run along strange human girl," he pushed me away using his feet and as I fell to the ground with a thud, the man proceeded to open the door of his car.
- No!
- I vigorously shook my head, taking a hold of the man's leg.
- "Please, please help me. I don't want to be taken away, help me."
- "Help?"
- The man brought his intense gaze to mine, before it slowly trailed down to my hand which held his leg. The look in his eyes instantly changed showing disgust and he said
- "Help is not something I do. I am no helper, now take your tiny hands off me, human girl."
- The man tried to take his leg away, but I continutiously held on to it, bobbing my head in refusal.
- "Please help me. Save me, I'm willing to do anything," I pleaded, dropping to my kneels. So much for wanting to decide my own fate, but at this moment I didn't care, I was desperate. As I dropped to my kneels, I had momentarily let go of his leg to clasp my hand together just to show him my seriousness.
- "You'd do anything," his lips had slowly curved into a devilish smirk and his brow raised slightly in amusement.
- "What makes you think I'd save you. What makes you think I'm better than those people chasing you? Strange human girl, I am no savior but a cruel predator, run now why you still have a chance."
- If I say his warning didn't scare me, then I was lying. The man himself scared the living daylight out of me because even his gorgeousness could not hide away the domineering, dark and dangerous aura that oozed out of him. Everything about this man screamed danger but still_ still I would much rather go with him. However dangerous he was, regardless of his identity, at least I wouldn't have to be used and trampled upon by those same men who took away my everything. I won't be humiliated by them. But then again I hoped for somesomething else by running...
- "I don't care what you're. I want to go with you. I will be your prey if I have too."
- There was something about the way he looked at me the moment I offered to be his prey_ a feral, no sinister look, something that screamed apex predator yet, I held onto him for some reason.
- *CARDAN*
- Was this human girl being serious right now? I said inwardly to myself as I looked down at the innocent pair of baby blue eyes staring back me. The girl was drenched completely with her hair looking disheveled making her look even more pitiful than a lost kitten on a rainy night. What amused me was the fact that she was begging I, Cardan Alexander Coleman for help_ how ironic! If only she knew...
