Chapter 38 Scared But At Peace
- I took a couple of steps backward and relinquished complete control to Delcan. I could feel my body bulking up, my hands and feet transforming into claws, my mouth elongating into a snout, while my ears pointed upwards. Giving control to Delcan always feels the same, but even after all these years, I am still unable to become familiar with this sensation. Maybe it's because I'm not a werewolf but a lycan.
- "Holy fuck," I heard Arya's voice, but Delcan was too angry at the sight of vampires to pay attention to her. I did my best to prevent him from succumbing to his bloodlust. I could see surprise, disbelief, and fear reflected in the vampire's eyes, but I couldn't help them now. Neither Delcan nor I had left any people alive who discovered the truth about us.
- Delcan seized the vampire closest to him, sinking his canines into the vampire's throat, tearing off a large chunk of flesh, and tossing the vampire aside to die. Delcan isn't normal, not even by lycan standards. He possesses great speed and, as he can easily become bloodlusted, he tries to kill his prey as quickly as possible because neither of us can afford to embark on a killing spree. However, if he's resorting to using his canines today, I don't know how long I'll be able to restrain him. I'm just hoping he won't harm Arya.
