Chapter 2 Reunion
- Sarah brought her son, Wolford Walker, out of the airport before she stood at the exit area and made a phone call. Wolford Walker, nicknamed Wolfie, was a gift Sarah received after that crazy night. Previously, Sarah would call him Wolford. However, Wolford watched some animal documentaries when he was two, and he fell in love with wolves after that. He insisted that Sarah call him 'Wolfie' since then. He said that he wanted to be a wolf who could protect his mother. That was how his nickname came about.
- Right then, a black limousine stopped in front of the mother and son. The door of the car was thrown open to reveal a handsome young man. He took a few steps toward Sarah. "You're finally back, Miss Walker." This man was Desmond McComb, Sebastian Walker's assistant. Wolford widened his eyes and took a long look at Desmond before he stuck his bottom lip out. "You're not my uncle," the child protested.
- Wolford had never seen Sebastian in person, but he had seen him in video calls, so he could easily recognize him. Desmond bent down and picked Wolford up into his arms. "I'm your uncle's assistant. You can just call me Mr. Desmond. I'll bring you to your uncle now, okay?" Wolford took a glance at his mother, who nodded in response.
- After Sarah got into the car, she looked out at the view of the town, and the look on her face gradually darkened. About two weeks ago, her brother, Sebastian, had fallen off a cliff and was only found by Desmond three days later. Although they still managed to save Sebastian's life, Sebastian was still in a coma. Desmond was the one who called and told Sarah about the situation.
- At the news, Sarah immediately dropped everything that she had been doing before bringing her son back to Astonville. About one hour later, they safely arrived at Astonville's General Hospital. Sarah held Wolford in her arms as she followed Desmond into an elevator that led them to the ward.
- They entered what looked like an exclusive VIP ward to find Sebastian's frail and weak figure on the bed. Sebastian used to be an outgoing and lively man, but he looked as if someone had taken every ounce of his strength from him right then. Tears streamed down Sarah's cheeks the moment she saw him.
- In the past, their mother found out that their father had a mistress outside the marriage. Furthermore, it turned out that the mistress had a son and daughter who were about the same age as Sarah and Sebastian. Their mother couldn't handle the truth, so she decided to divorce their father. Sarah chose to follow her mother, while Sebastian chose to stay with the Walker Family. "As long as I stay, then Mom, Sarah, and everyone else is still considered part of the family!" Sebastian insisted.
- After that, when Sarah's grandparents were ill and when her mother was ill, Sebastian was the one who found ways to provide financial support to them using the Walker Family's funds. Sebastian also managed to cover Sarah's living expenses, her school fees, and so on! In other words, Sebastian was like the sturdy, reliable rock and the safety net that Sarah had in her life. However, the person she had relied on the most had collapsed.
- Sarah's fingers trembled as she reached out for Sebastian's pale face. "I'm back, Sebastian…" she muttered through sobs. "Why don't you open your eyes to look at me? Don't worry, Sebastian. I'll make sure you wake up… I'll make sure the person who did this pays for their sins!" Sebastian has always been the one to look after me. It's my turn to protect him now!
- Wolford felt something heavy weighing upon his chest when he saw how hard his mother was crying and how silent and still Sebastian seemed. With his face scrunched into a frown, Wolford reached for Sebastian's hand before speaking in a stern voice. "Hey, Uncle Sebastian, I'm Wolford. I know you're ill. Don't worry. I'll take care of you and Mommy. But that doesn't mean you get to laze around, Uncle Sebastian. You can't make us wait for too long!" Then, the young boy turned to give his mother a firm look. "I'm sure Uncle Sebastian will wake up, Mom!"
- Sarah dried her tears as she spoke. "How much longer do we have to wait?" she asked. Wolford shook his head at this. Desmond was puzzled as he watched this interaction. Miss Walker is a doctor herself. Why is she asking her child such a question? What Desmond didn't know was that Wolford had some special powers. Whenever Wolford came in physical contact with someone, he was able to see a glimpse of the other person's future.
- When Wolford had touched Sebastian's hand earlier, he saw a flash of a scene where Sebastian was sitting up in bed, and Sarah was happily feeding him some food. That was how Wolford knew that Sebastian would wake up eventually. However, there were limits to Wolford's skills—Wolford could only see a clip or a scene of the future, but he couldn't determine how near or far this future was. Furthermore, Wolford couldn't see his and Sarah's future at all.
- Right then, Wolford's words made Sarah feel much calmer. She dried her tears before she turned to Desmond. "You can bring Wolford back to the condominium first. I need to meet the dean for a talk with him," Sarah explained.
- "Sure, Miss Walker." Desmond nodded before he led Wolford away. When they were leaving the hospital, they happened to pass by a group of people. Among the group of people was a tall and stern-looking man who had a pale woman in his arms. Beside them was a skinny and fair guy who seemed to be anxiously comforting the pale woman.
- Wolford was being carried in Desmond's arms, and Wolford's skin accidentally brushed passed the skinny man's shoulder for a while. A scene flashed across Wolford's eyes. This man is going to get on his knees for Mommy. What's going on? When Wolford turned to look at the people again, he realized that they had already gotten into the elevator.
- …
- Meanwhile, after Sarah went through all her brother's medical records and test results in the dean's office, she finally let out a sigh. "Mr. Tanner, it seems like my brother got into a coma because of the blood clots that are pressing on his nerves in the brain. I have experience with this, so I can be in charge of Sebastian's care from now on!"
- Six years ago, Sarah went overseas to further her studies, and she graduated to become a well-known surgeon. She was certain that she could save her brother! "Sure. I'll get the other staff members to work with you, too," Edward Tanner uttered with a smile. At that moment, someone heavily pushed the door in. Both Sarah and Edward were shocked—they spun their heads to stare at the door. A tall and muscular-looking figure stepped in, with a face so handsome that he looked like God had sculptured it personally. He was flawless!
- However, despite the perfect facial features the man had, his cold expression made him seem like he wasn't looking to be approached by others at all. The man walked over to Edward before tugging Edward's arm toward him. "Walk!"
- Medical dispute? Sarah's heart sank as she instinctively reached out for the man's arm while loudly questioning him, "Who are you? What do you want?!"
- The very next second, Adam's icy gaze landed on Sarah!
