Chapter 9 Her Lover
- Standing beside Adam's tall stature, Sarah, who was wearing a pair of flat shoes, immediately found herself overshadowed by the man. When he suddenly came closer to her, she could sense his oppressive manly aura and instantly felt her heart beating like a jackhammer, her fingers wrapping the scalpel in her pocket tightly. "I don't know you, so what does it matter to you about the way I call you?" The lady jutted her chin stubbornly.
- Wait, what? She really has no idea who I am. Who the heck is this lady? Everybody in Astonville knows who I am. At the thought of that, Adam got annoyed and spoke with a deep voice. "Fine, I'm Adam Parish. Remember the name!"
- While there was barely anyone who had made Adam reveal his name by himself in Astonville, the first thing that those, who heard his name, would do was concede to him as a sign of respect. However, Sarah didn't want to get too close to him, knowing that he was Sofia's older brother, not to mention the fact that she didn't know him at all. Therefore, she only responded with a cold grunt and an unconcerned expression on her face, but unknown to her, her reaction was about to irritate Adam.
- Soon, the man pinched Sarah's chin and looked into her eyes with his piercing gaze. "You're trying to get my attention, aren't you, lady? Do you know that I have zero tolerance for ladies?" The next second, a glacial look flashed across his face as he swiftly grabbed Sarah by the wrist.
- Nevertheless, Sarah was able to dodge Adam's grasp nimbly, whereupon she swung her scalpel through the air just inches before her abdomen. Fortunately, Adam was fast enough to evade the lady's attack, or he would have suffered terribly from disembowelment. After that, the man quickly engaged his core and kept his body hollow, throwing a few deceptive blows at the lady in a probing manner until he finally caught her wrist, only to find her scalpel just less than an inch away from his abdomen. Squinting nervously, Adam couldn't believe that he had fallen for Sarah's trick twice despite having learned from his lesson the last time. I thought I was careful enough, but still, she almost got me. I must admit that she is fast, indeed.
- Sarah, whose wrist was caught by the man, grew impatient and irritable when she couldn't move a muscle. "Stop being so full of yourself, Mr. Parish! I have no interest in you at all! So, let go of me!"
- "What is a lady like you doing carrying a dangerous weapon like this one around? I'm going to confiscate it—"
- Before the man could finish his sentence, he felt a sudden overwhelming pain in his toes. Then, just when he was briefly distracted, the scalpel that he snatched from Sarah was returned to its owner. "Ugh! You want to confiscate this? Not so easy!" The lady then lifted the man's arm and slipped away beneath his armpit, making her way toward the elevator.
- Meanwhile, the elevator was full of many people who were heading upstairs. When they saw Adam, they were all stunned. Oh my god! That's Prince Parish! I thought he never laid his eyes on a woman, but he was just there, pinning a pretty lady on the wall. If word about this gets out, all the people around Astonville are going to go crazy!
- Keeping his eyes on Sarah, Adam knitted his eyebrows and soon caught a glimpse of a carved word on her scalpel that read—'Hunter'. Hmm. She seems pretty protective of that scalpel of hers. Could that be a gift from her lover or something? The man's eyes were filled with an unfathomable expression. The next moment, he stepped out of the elevator, ignoring those around him just as the bystanders stood aside and cleared a pathway for him.
- On the other hand, Sarah was talking on the phone just when she exited the hospital's building. It turned out that it was a call from Wolford, who exclaimed, "Mommy, this new house is so big and beautiful. I could even get a massage in the bathtub. Furthermore, Uncle Adam treats us really well, and I guess I like him more now." The little boy spoke with an adorable voice.
- "Oh, really? I can't wait to go back after hearing what you said. Have you taken your shower, by the way?" Sarah responded, chuckling in amusement.
- "Of course. I smell good now," Wolford replied.
- "Really? That's great. Alright then, I must get back now because I can't wait to hug my baby in bed!" In fact, Sarah always stayed up late with her son, Wolford.
- "No, Mommy. I'm a boy while you're a lady. So, we can't sleep together."
- "We can because I said so. I'll be back soon, so wait for me." As soon as Sarah hung up the call, she excitedly ran off and disappeared.
- In the meantime, Adam, who had just witnessed Sarah in a good mood, somehow felt a little upset, wondering who the 'baby' she wanted to hug in bed was. Is she genuinely desperate? It's broad daylight now. A few moments later, he reached for his phone and gave his subordinate an instruction in a deep voice.
- "I want you to run some background checks on a woman named Sarah Walker. It seems she's known Sofia for quite a while and is probably living with her lover at the moment."
