Chapter 270 Late Visitor At Midnight
- Sarah was at a loss with May, but given she was Joshua's only child and her own family, there was no way she could just turn a blind eye. So, she asked Peter to escort May back home, urging her to hold out for a few days. With them on their way, Sarah finally headed to Ezra’s place. Ezra wasn’t one of those classic heirs to a fortune, but he was comfortable enough financially. Constantly hounded by his parents to settle down, he had chosen to escape the pressure by moving into a spacious duplex, living on his own terms. He’d even invited Wolfie to stay with him. When she walked in, the two of them were fully absorbed in a video game on the couch, completely lost in the excitement of it.
- Sarah couldn't help but feel amused, unsure who was being a bigger influence on whom! As soon as they spotted her, they tossed their phones aside and bounded toward her, enthusiasm written all over their faces. She wrapped her son in a tight embrace, asking warmly, "Are you settling in alright here?" Wolfie beamed. "Mom, you can cast your concerns aside. I’m faring well here." Ezra, standing nearby with open arms, gave her a teasing look. "And where’s my hug of appreciation?" She laughed. "Is that what you’re angling for?" He shrugged, sliding his hands into his pockets with a smirk. "Actually, I prefer keeping you in my debt. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll repay it by becoming mine!"
- By now, Sarah was immune to his banter, feeling entirely unfazed. She replied with a grin, "How about I clear my tab by cooking dinner instead?" Ezra's eyes lit up. "Perfect! I was planning to fire up the barbecue pit on the balcony tonight. Let’s make it a feast." With that, the trio got to work, assembling skewers with the marinated lamb and chicken wings Ezra had prepped earlier, adding plenty of vegetables for balance. Ezra’s apartment, larger and more expansive than Sarah’s, featured a dual-kitchen setup. One was a classic design, while the other, positioned on the balcony, came with a high-tech table. The table’s surface was crafted from tempered glass, versatile enough to serve as a dining area. However, a single button transformed it—splitting the surface in the middle to reveal an electric grill underneath, ready for a cozy barbecue session.
