Chapter 9 I Don't Agree

  • Heidi also looked at Celine with concern, momentarily putting the unfamiliar Lucas out of their minds.
  • "Don't be so nervous. I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"
  • Seeing her mother and Heidi's reactions, Celine smiled and said.
  • Deep down, she still felt a bit shaken, but in front of her mother and Heidi, she had to act relaxed.
  • "That's good! It's a blessing you usually have bodyguards around you. Otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable!" Rosalie said with a serious expression.
  • "Mom, the one who saved me this time wasn't my bodyguard."
  • Celine pouted at that moment, glancing at Lucas, who was sitting there calmly. "It was him!"
  • Only then did Rosalie and Heidi redirect their attention back to Lucas.
  • "I haven't asked you yet. Who is he? How dare he come here and talk nonsense, claiming to be the master?"
  • Rosalie stared at Lucas with a hostile gaze and turned to Celine.
  • Hearing her mother's words, Celine shot a fierce glare at Lucas, cursing in her heart at this bastard for being so reckless with his words.
  • Celine was contemplating how to explain this to her mother and Heidi.
  • At that moment, Heidi adjusted her glasses with her long fingers and suddenly remembered something, frowning as she asked, "Celine, he wouldn't be the one you chose, would he?"
  • Seeing Heidi had guessed correctly, Celine shrugged and silently nodded.
  • In the next second, Rosalie and Heidi exchanged glances, and their expressions immediately darkened.
  • "Celly, have you lost your mind? How could you choose someone like this to marry?"
  • As a mother, Rosalie immediately exploded with anger, pointing at the slovenly, ragged Lucas and questioning him sternly.
  • In her agitation, her charming and graceful aura seemed to vanish completely.
  • "Celine, there are so many young talents in Demonia. Why did you choose someone like him? Did you just close your eyes and pick one from a labor market?"
  • Heidi frowned, glancing at Lucas with some disdain.
  • She was the daughter of Celine's uncle, but both of Celine's uncle and aunt had died in a car accident when Heidi was young.
  • Since then, Heidi had been raised by Willy and Rosalie. So although she wasn't a biological daughter, she was almost like one.
  • Her relationship with Celine was akin to that of biological sisters. Seeing her sister with such a man, Heidi felt quite sorry for her.
  • "Ahem! Mom, Sis, I'm actually quite outstanding."
  • At this moment, Lucas sensed the disdain from Rosalie and Heidi and called out unhappily.
  • As soon as he finished speaking, the three women in the living room simultaneously reprimanded him.
  • "Shut up!" Celine said sternly.
  • "Who's your mom?" Rosalie looked at him with disgust.
  • "Don't call me Sis!" Heidi furrowed her brow, her expression so cold it could freeze.
  • In the next moment, Rosalie snorted coldly and turned to Celine, saying, "Celly, even if you're looking for someone to marry just to avoid marrying into the Quinns, you should at least find someone with a bit of a background, someone who can provide for you, right?"
  • Hearing this, Celine replied casually, "Mom, to protect our family's interests, I need to find a live-in son-in-law. Who with a family background would be willing to be a live-in son-in-law?"
  • As soon as she finished speaking, Heidi retorted, "Of course there are! With your conditions, how many young masters in Demonia would willingly marry into our family? Just pick one and he'd be better than—"
  • She pointed disdainfully at Lucas and continued, "He'd be better than this guy, right?"
  • However, Celine shook her head and said, "Heidi, I've been on a lot of blind dates these past few days, and he's the only one who has given me peace of mind!"
  • Upon hearing this, Rosalie and Heidi both paused. Their expressions momentarily stunned.
  • In the next second, Rosalie sighed. "Dear, I know what you're worried about, but—"
  • "Alright, Mom. Don't try to persuade me anymore. Actually, this guy isn't bad. Having him around at least ensures my safety. Didn't I say that he took care of those assassins today?"
  • Celine interrupted Rosalie, unusually starting to speak about Lucas' benefits in an effort to convince her mother and Heidi.
  • "Hehe, that's right! Mom, Celine marrying a century-level hunk like me is a big win for your family!"
  • Hearing Celine praise himself was a rare treat, and Lucas wore a very pleased expression as he bragged, clearly unaware of what it meant to be humble.
  • Upon hearing this, Rosalie's lips twitched, and Heidi couldn't help but roll her eyes.
  • "No way! I don't agree! Absolutely not!"
  • Rosalie looked at Lucas' cocky demeanor and found it even harder to accept.
  • If this punk became her son-in-law, she would undoubtedly become a laughingstock in the wealthy circles of Demonia.
