Chapter 3 I Won't Cheat

  • And this guy ... hmph!
  • Suppressing her urge to slap him, Celine maintained a stoic expression as she asked, "Let me ask you this. If we were to get married, how would you behave as a husband? What kind of son-in-law would you be for the Xaviers? In other words, what would you do to help our family thrive in the future?"
  • Without a moment's hesitation, Lucas shot back, "With all your money, what else do I need to do? Can't I just live off you?"
  • Under normal circumstances, a woman would definitely be disappointed and disdainful to hear that a man has no ambition, which would doom the blind date to failure.
  • But after Lucas uttered those words, Celine's eyes sparkled with interest. "What did you just say? Say it again!"
  • "I said I want to live off you. What's wrong with that? Your family is so rich, can't your company hire business elites? Do you your husband have to do something? D*mmit!" Lucas said sarcastically.
  • Lucas shrugged off the two bodyguards, then leaned back on the sofa with a nonchalant expression.
  • He knew he was out of her league, he didn't hold back and said whatever was on his mind.
  • But what was unexpected was that when Celine heard this answer, her expressionless face showed a playful smile.
  • "Are you serious? After we marry, you plan to do absolutely nothing and just live off me?" Celine asked, raising an eyebrow with a hint of amusement.
  • The smile on her stunningly beautiful face made her all the more captivating in that moment.
  • "Calling it 'living off you' sounds harsh. I prefer to think of it as enjoying life, okay?" Lucas replied, pouting slightly as he offered his own take.
  • "It's all the same. Come with me!" Celine said, rising and heading toward the café exit.
  • As she stood, the captivating curve of her waist and hips left Lucas momentarily entranced.
  • She's truly stunning!
  • It took him only a moment to regain his composure. "Go with you? Where are we going?"
  • "City Hall. We're getting our marriage license!" Celine answered, not glancing back.
  • Hearing this, Lucas felt as though he had been hit by a barrage of bullets from a Gatling gun, jolting him awake!
  • How thrilling!
  • ...
  • After exiting the café, Lucas got into a Rolls-Royce and settled into the back seat next to Celine.
  • As the car started moving, Lucas comfortably leaned back in his seat and turned his head to admire the breathtaking profile beside him. He took a deep breath and thought, Man, she's stunning!
  • His gaze drifted lower, tracing the graceful curves.
  • Without any reservations, Lucas indulged in the view, relishing the moment.
  • Well, if he was going to get married, he might as well appreciate the fact that this was his soon-to-be wife.
  • He had intended to settle for just any woman, but here he was, ending up with a gorgeous beauty—what a stroke of luck!
  • However, in the next instant, Lucas's gaze landed somewhere inappropriate, causing him to freeze.
  • There was definitely something off about this woman!
  • "Watch where you're looking, or I won't hesitate to gouge your eyes out!" Celine snapped, her voice sharp with irritation.
  • This guy had a knack for staring where he shouldn't, and his lewd gaze felt as if it could penetrate right through her clothes.
  • Celine was so frustrated that she almost wanted to gouge out his eyes and stomp on them with her high heels!
  • "Come on, I'm about to become your husband. Can't I even look?" Lucas retorted, clearly annoyed by her aloof demeanor.
  • "Ha! Do you really think you're my man? Before we register for marriage, take a look at this agreement," Celine shot back, casting a disdainful glance at Lucas, her eyes filled with contempt as she handed him a document.
  • Lucas glanced over the document and couldn't help but smirk.
  • The agreement clearly stated that their marriage was purely a formality. Celine wouldn't perform any of the traditional wifely duties but would provide Lucas with a monthly allowance of 20,000 dollars.
  • Moreover, it contained several restrictions and rules specifically designed for Lucas.
  • Essentially, he was nothing more than a hired husband, brought in to play a role.
  • "Becoming a husband like this feels rather pointless. I have no status at all!" Lucas said, a mix of irritation and amusement in his tone as he examined the agreement.
  • "What more do you want?" Celine narrowed her beautiful eyes and asked mockingly.
  • Then, her expression turned serious as she stated, "Don't worry, I won't fulfill the duties of a wife, but I won't cross any principled lines. For example, I won't cheat on you."
  • "Wait, does that mean I can't date anyone else either? Am I stuck just playing with my left and right hands for the rest of my life?" Lucas asked with indignation, smirking.
  • "Watch your tone when you speak to me. Be more respectful."
  • Celine frowned as she reprimanded him. Then, her expression softened slightly as she continued, "I've only stated that I won't cheat. What you do is your business—just keep it discreet. As long as it doesn't become a public spectacle, you can do as you please."
