Chapter 14 Kidnapping? Human Trafficking?

  • But Lucas's moves were way more impressive than just teasing her!
  • When Celine heard it wasn't Lucas teasing Heidi, she felt a bit more at ease. Looking around, she asked her sister, "Where's Lucas? Did he go back to his room?"
  • Heidi pointed toward the door. "He left."
  • At those words, both Rosalie and Celine were taken aback.
  • "He left? What do you mean?" Celine, the stunning CEO, frowned and asked uncertainly.
  • "He left, just like that. Maybe he thinks he isn't good enough for you and wants to get lost on his own," Heidi said with a hint of annoyance in her voice as she mentioned Lucas.
  • As soon as she said this, Rosalie chuckled and scoffed, "At least he knows his place. A lowlife had the nerve to think he could marry my daughter? Ridiculous."
  • "What did he say when he left? Didn't even bother saying a word before leaving?"
  • Celine asked expressionlessly, her tone carrying a hint of dissatisfaction toward someone. "What did he say?"
  • Facing her sister's question, Heidi's eyes flickered briefly before she innocently replied, "Nothing."
  • In fact, Lucas had said something before he left, "Celine is more suitable for me."
  • However, Heidi couldn't bring herself to say it aloud, knowing that such a statement could easily be misinterpreted.
  • If Rosalie and Celine found out, they might think something had happened between her and that jerk!
  • "Celly, what's the matter? Don't tell me you can't let him go?" Heidi's tone shifted as she teased her on purpose.
  • Hearing this, Celine shrugged and replied, exasperated, "Seriously? Why would I care? I just think he has no basic manners or decency, that's all."
  • It's great he's gone!
  • Rosalie was overjoyed. She let out a deep breath, her expression one of pure relief and gratitude.
  • On the other hand, after leaving the Xaviers' estate, Lucas randomly found a street stall where he enjoyed some snacks and beer, indulging until nightfall. Once it got dark, he headed back to the place he had been renting.
  • After all, now that he was moving in with the stunning CEO, he needed to return to pack his things, right?
  • This place was way out in the suburbs of suburbs of Demonia. Even so, the rent was ridiculously high.
  • Lucas rented an old farmhouse, similar to a traditional courtyard-style home, located in a run-down neighborhood awaiting demolition. Even in such poor conditions, the rent was still 3,000 dollars a month.
  • This was the reality for countless ordinary people trying to make it in Demonia. Yet, when Lucas thought about the Xaviers' estate, he couldn't help but sigh at how vast the gap between people in society truly was.
  • Because the area was about to be developed, most of the original residents had moved out, leaving behind only a few temporary renters.
  • As soon as night fell, the whole village became pitch dark, with an eerie, unsettling atmosphere.
  • Despite having had quite a few drinks, Lucas was still moving with incredible speed. His years of special training had given him exceptional night vision.
  • After all, Shadow Demon was meant to walk in darkness.
  • Suddenly, his ears twitched at the sound of something unusual.
  • He moved silently, darting a few paces to hide behind a wall, his gaze focused on one direction.
  • There, he saw two men dragging a woman out of a van.
  • The woman was unconscious, and the two men quickly carried her into the house.
  • Kidnapping? Human trafficking?
  • Lucas narrowed his eyes, a cold gleam flashing across them.
  • He wasn't the type to meddle in others' business, but he had once taken an oath under the flag. If he hadn't come across this, fine, but now that he had ...
  • Oh well, it's not like I have anything better to do.
  • The main thing is, I was checking out that girl. She's got a great figure and is really stylish. She's like a little beauty, haha.
  • Inside the dimly lit house, the young woman lay on the floor, her lips moving slightly as she let out a faint sound.
  • She appeared to be around 18 or 19, yet she had already developed quite well.
  • She wore a pair of jeans that emphasized her long, shapely legs, and her top was a cute butterfly blouse that highlighted her youthful, vibrant energy.
  • At that moment, the two men who had dragged the young woman inside couldn't conceal the gleam of excitement in their eyes as they stared at her.
  • But when they heard her stir, the one with narrow eyes jumped in surprise. "What the hell? She's waking up already? Marty, are you sure that drug of yours worked?"
  • "Just let her wake up! She's just a girl. We'll tie her up, isn't that enough? I'll handle it," Marty replied, licking his lips as his gaze stared at the girl, unwilling to look away.
  • Then, he took a bundle of hemp rope from the corner of the room and tied the girl up tightly.
  • The man with squinty eyes wasn't idle either. He took advantage of the situation.
  • "Larry, we really hit the jackpot this time! I wouldn't even want to sell her off. A beauty like her—do you think she'd survive if we sold her overseas?"
