• As the microphone transmitted the sound, a familiar and husky tone was conveyed to the listeners. In the dimly lit surroundings, Nick came to a halt and silently observed Alexa as she stepped onto the small stage. Entertaining the crowd with lighthearted jokes, she took a moment to express her gratitude for their attendance before captivating them with the introduction of her new poem.
• “A Small Dark Place,” she said.
• Nick geared himself up for an event that promised to be filled with drama, and he began mentally constructing compliments for the occasion. Despite everything, the fact remains that it wasn't her fault that he didn't have a liking for poetry.
