• Nick turned gently to steal a glance at his peacefully sleeping bride. Her head rested against the door of the limousine. Her headpiece had been ripped off, and crumbled white lace lay at his feet. With her raven curls shooting off in all directions, her bare shoulders remained hidden from sight. The glass of champagne in the cup holder remained untouched, its once lively bubbles now flat. A sparkling two-carat diamond bound her finger and exploded sparks of light from the last rays of the dying sun. Plump, ruby lips parted to allow breath in and out. In the air, a gentle snore could be heard rising steadily with each exhalation.

• Nick reached for his own champagne glass and felt the cool, bubbly liquid tickle his fingertips as he silently toasted to success. The ownership of Dreamscape Lancaster Enterprises now belongs entirely to him. The chance of a lifetime was right before him, and he knew he could pursue it without needing anyone's authorization.
