Chapter 6 Taking Action

  • As Rachel descended the stairs, preparing to make her way towards the master's room, she was stopped by a woman.
  • "Hey... you're my brother's wife?"
  • Rachel lowered her gaze, feeling somewhat helpless. How many people are there in this household?
  • She turned around and saw a girl in her twenties, dressed in a limited-edition outfit with an excellent temperament. She had two popular buns on her head, fair skin, and a resemblance to Jonathan. The family has good genes.
  • However, the way she regarded Rachel was filled with hostility.
  • Johnson intentionally summoned Fiona Fuller. The third daughter of the family had been raised by the master since childhood and couldn't tolerate any harsh words. Her temper was also quite bad. Apart from Jonathan, no one in this family could control her, not even the master. He turned a blind eye to her antics most of the time.
  • Rachel's lips curved slightly. "So, who are you?"
  • Fiona coughed lightly, her eyes brimming with arrogance.
  • "I am Fiona, the third daughter of this family. I am my brother's most beloved person. Let me warn you, don't think that marrying into this family means you can boss us around. You are not worthy."
  • She glanced at Rachel and couldn't help but express her disapproval.
  • "Furthermore, since you have married into the Fullers, you represent us. Setting aside your unattractive appearance, I can't believe someone would wear… this. Johnson, take her to my room."
  • Johnson felt secretly delighted. "Yes."
  • He knew that this woman was just a pushover. I'm the oldest housekeeper around. Not even Master Jonathan talks to me rudely.
  • I knew Miss Fiona would be able to handle her. Where's all your confidence from earlier? Now, you can't even say a word.
  • He stepped forward and raised his voice on purpose, "Let's go."
  • Rachel looked at Johnson, speaking calmly.
  • "Why should I listen to you?"
  • Fiona stared at Rachel, slightly surprised.
  • "I am the third daughter of this family. You have no right to disobey me. And look at your outfit. My brother is in poor health. If you scare him with your appearance, you cannot take responsibility." She turned back and imperiously said, "Johnson, get two men to help her."
  • Johnson was secretly delighted. Miss Fiona is a little tyrant in this household. No matter how much this bumpkin fights, she will be no match for her.
  • However, he pretended to hesitate and said to Fiona, "But Miss Fiona, if the young master asks..."
  • "What are you afraid of? If something happens, I'll take the blame. Besides, my brother dotes on me. How could he scold me for the sake of an outsider? Hurry up..."
  • Johnson was waiting for this statement. It was enough for the two servants to step forward. Rachel furrowed her brow slightly, a hint of impatience flashing in her eyes.
  • "I'm warning you; it's best not to touch me."
  • Somehow, those two servants remained motionless and dared not move.
  • This made Fiona feel embarrassed. The fact that these two servants were intimidated by a woman like this made her roll up her sleeves and walk forward to push the two servants aside.
  • "Useless trash, I'll handle it myself!"
  • She reached out to grab Rachel's arm and was about to drag her out, but Rachel twisted her wrist and grabbed Fiona's wrist in return, applying a little pressure.
  • "Ah... it hurts, you hideous witch, let go of me!"
  • Rachel's gaze was fearless. "I warned you not to touch me."
  • She didn't want to make any enemies among this family's members. She simply wanted to attend to her own affairs and leave. However, if someone tried to push her around, she wouldn't just take it lying down.
  • The piercing pain nearly made Fiona cry.
  • "If you don't let go, my brother will definitely not spare you."
  • "I understand that you dislike me, but at the very least, I am your sister-in-law. It's fine if you don't address me, but you cannot lay your hands on me. That's basic courtesy."
  • Rachel firmly held onto Fiona's hand, standing her ground. The aura surrounding her made the several servants hesitant to approach.
  • Anger caused Fiona's eyes to turn red, and she started trembling.
  • "So what if I do? You're just a replacement bride. Who do you think you are? Even my brother doesn't dare to control me, and you dare to lecture me!"
  • "I don't consider myself the mistress of this house, but I deserve basic respect."
  • Observing that Rachel had no intention of releasing her grip, Fiona could only turn her head and look at Johnson, the steward, and the two servants who were still standing there.
  • "Are you all blind? Hurry up and pull this crazy woman away from me!"
  • This hurts.
  • Johnson snapped out of his daze and was about to approach Rachel along with the two servants to separate them when a dignified voice resounded from upstairs.
  • "What's all the commotion?"
