Chapter 4 Wedding Invitation Card
- "It's you? Ivy Shaw!"
- "You're Jonah? You… you've finished your sentence in jail?" Ivy was in a daze for a while. She stared at Jonah for quite some time and covered her mouth in shock.
- "Yeah. I just got released. You're…" Jonah nodded. He was familiar with Ivy. The two of them had been in the same classes in high school and university. After graduation, Ivy went to another hospital to work. He did not expect to see her visiting his house.
- "Jonah, you have to thank Ivy properly!" Susan gave Ivy a bottle of mineral water. "In the past three years amid our family's crisis, Ivy was the one helping us. Because of her connections in the hospital, Casey's medical bills were given quite a bit of discounts."
- "Thank you." Finally, Jonah felt heartwarming. He did not expect Ivy to help his family out. They had been competing against each other since high school to be the number one every moment they could.
- "It's alright, I only did what I should do." Ivy brushed through her hair, her cheeks were blushing. She was very beautiful. Her green flowy dress made her look energetic, but it could not cover up her nice body figure. There were light dimples on her tiny face, and her smile was refreshing. However, Ivy did not pay attention, and a red invitation card dropped on the ground when she raised her hand.
- Jonah bent to pick it up. The invitation card was opened, and he saw familiar faces in the picture.
- "Jonah, I…" Ivy wanted to take it back, but she realized that Jonah's face was eerily gloomy! On the invitation card, a woman smiled brightly and leaned against a man. The woman was his girlfriend, and the man was the thug being beaten up by him three years ago, Yoel Grant. He could remember their faces even if they turned into ashes!
- "They're getting married?" Jonah gritted his teeth and asked in a hoarse, angry voice. He was sentenced to five years in jail because of Dania! In the past three years, Dania was like a bloodsucking vampire, snatching away their family's clinic and abandoning his family at times of crisis. Dania was part of the reasons to be blamed for their family's tragedy!
- "Jonah, cheer up. Dania isn't worthy of you.
- Susan saw the invitation card too, and she sighed. "Back when you first went into jail, your dad and I had been hearing rumors. A year ago, when your father was selling things by the roadside, he saw Dania entering a man's car. The two of them were close…"
- "Mom, I'm alright." Jonah forced a smile and replied, "I'm not sad because of her. I'm just angry with myself for being blind back then! And I caused you and dad to be worried and suffer! I'm unfilial! But, you don't have to worry anymore. I'm back. I'll work properly and feed our family. I'll let you and dad have a good life." Jonah promised his mother.
- "It's good that you're back. And it's okay to make mistakes. I'm sure you can pull yourself together." Ivy comforted him from the side. She heard that someone barged into the Clark residence, so she rushed here to see if she could be of any help. Seeing Jonah back, she did not stay long and left after saving Jonah's contact.
- "Ivy is a good girl. Luckily she was around to help us out all these years." Susan saw Ivy off.
- "Mom, have a good rest at home. I have to go out to deal with something." Jonah was suppressing his emotions, he had to vent them out.
- "It's almost afternoon. Why do you have to go out? You should eat before going out."
- "It's okay. I'll go looking for a job." Jonah told a lie. He actually did not need to look for a job based on his current abilities. But, he had to make something clear. Why did Dania trick me? Why is she marrying Yoel? And also, I need to settle the scores with Kuro! How dare he chase our family for money? He has to know that I am the Prison King!
- "You don't have to be in such a hurry to look for work. Just eat before you go."
- "Mom, I'm a man." Jonah continued to say, "I have to support this family and prevent you, dad, and Casey from suffering."
- "Jonah, you've grown up. Okay, wait for me." Susan was gratified. After entering the house for a while, she returned with a pouch made of cloth. She rummaged from it and found two 100 dollar notes that were wrinkled, and she stuffed them into Jonah's hand. "Bring some money with you since you just came back. Our household was suffering, this is all we have, take it…"
