Chapter 1 Bliss City
- "You brat! Be gentle, you're hurting me." The Haven Island looked like a sleeping turtle under the night sky. The wind caused the waves to crash the seashore rhythmically, but it was not loud enough to cover the voices of a man and a woman under the dim lamplight.
- "Sorry, Ruby, I'm exerting too much…"
- "Too much? Are you sure? How much is too much? Come on, show me what you've got!" The woman's voice was crisp but somewhat suggestive, which could give people the wrong idea.
- "Ruby, don't joke around. I'm just saying that I can exert great force to massage you. Stay still." Jonah Clark shook his head with a bitter smile, and he gulped, peeking at his senior, Ruby Quinn, who was laying on the beach chair. Her red silk dress was half covering her body. Under the dim light, the light contrast made her body figure seem seductive.
- Ruby's face was slightly slanted. She was a rare beauty with a pair of watery eyes and a pointy nose. She complained as she pouted, "You know that you've got great strength, yet you beat me up! Are you in such a hurry to go back to see your girlfriend?" She scoffed as she was feeling displeased.
- His heart pounded hearing her mention his girlfriend. And he stopped moving. "It's been three years. It's time for me to go back." Jonah was hopeful. "I have to visit my parents, right? I lost contact with them for the past three years."
- Three years ago, Jonah graduated from Bliss Medical School with his girlfriend, Diana Lewis. They went to the same hospital for their internships. One day when they were returning home late after the night shift, they ran into a bad guy who assaulted his girlfriend. He was young and impulsive, so he had beaten the bad guy up, which sent him into the hospital. Hence, Jonah was sentenced to five years in jail for severely injuring someone.
- He was in Haven Island Jail for the past three years. And, he found himself a master who taught him medical and martial arts skills. He also joined the Bonafide and became the new Prison King. Defeating Ruby was his only requirement to leave the Haven Island Jail. Hence, he beat her up just to go home.
- "Well, that's right." Ruby nodded, the atmosphere was getting tense. She suddenly raised her eyebrow and asked, "Little Brat, who has a better body figure? Your girlfriend or me? Do you think that I look fair…"
- Jonah blushed hearing her words. "Ruby, are you seducing me? I'm afraid that the master will break my legs."
- "Hmph! Aren't you great? Are you still afraid of the master?"
- ……
- The next morning, nine o'clock in the Bliss City Airport. Jonah was holding a worn-out canvas bag as he walked out of the airport. His skin was dark, his hair was short but smart, and he had eyes with depth.
- "Dreamland Garden." He mentioned an address after getting into a taxi. He had a lot of mixed feelings seeing the changes in Bliss City after three years. "I wonder if dad and mom have been well for the past three years. They must hate me."
- Three years ago, Jonah was the best kid to everyone. He was a scholar-lord who mastered every subject. His parents were proud of him. But, three years ago, he was jailed. His thoughts flashed in his mind like a movie. The car stopped in front of Dreamland Garden. Staring at the worn-out entrance door, Jonah felt worried for being away from home for too long. He tried to calm himself down before knocking on the door.
- The rusty door squeaked as it was open without exerting much force. "Mom." Jonah entered the door and saw an old lady hunching her back in a corner. She was full of white hair, and her face was pale. Just by looking at her, he could tell that she was severely ill.
- "Jo… Jonah?" Susan Lane was dumbstruck, and she slowly turned around, staring at Jonah in disbelief. "Jonah, my son, is it really you?"
- "Mom!" Jonah dashed to hold her, and his heart was breaking. My mom is only fifty this year! But, she's aged like a seventy or eighty old lady! Her footsteps were slow, and her body was hunching as if she were carrying a heavy object! "Mom, it's me, it's really me."
- "It's good to have you back, it's great." Susan could not hold back her tears as she was caressing Jonah's face. She patted on his shoulder forcefully, and the light in her dim eyes reignited. After entering the house, Susan poured a cup of water for Jonah. "Jonah, wasn't your sentence five years? Why are you out early?" She recalled that her son was sentenced for five years for injuring someone out of anger. And the other party refused to settle it among themselves.
