Chapter 2
- The music is loud, the rhythm can be felt even in the thick concrete walls, which vibrate with those sounds that call on the attendees to move, letting themselves be carried away by the feeling of freedom that only music gives them at that moment.
- But when Max Hunter, CEO of one of the most important security companies in the country, steps foot inside the place, it's as if everything around him stops, allowing him to pass.
- He is one of the frequent and most generous clients, so all the employees strive to give him a reserved area, leave the drinks he likes at his disposal, and four girls who dance there, the most beautiful ones, go straight to wait for the man in his refuge.
- "Good evening, Mr. Hunter," the host says. "Your reserved area is ready, with everything you like."
- "Thank you."
- He walks with the confidence that a man of his stature and position should have. Upon arriving at the reserved area, the girls welcome him with dances, take off his jacket, tie, and seat him on the sofa. One of them serves him one of the drinks, while another gives him gentle shoulder massages and the other two continue dancing provocatively.
- "I should have the same reception at my house," he says, looking desirously at each one.
- They smile and dedicate themselves to pleasing him, until one of the customers from the reserved area next to them approaches to complain.
- "Don't you think you have too many women for yourself? You should share one with me..." he approaches one of the girls, takes her by the arm, and pulls her, but Max stands up and stops the man.
- "I don't share," he says coldly. "Leave now, if you don't want to end up with a broken nose."
- "Ooh, how scary," he says, moving as if he were trembling. "Let's go!"
- But he fails to move the girl even an inch, because Max fulfills his threat, punches him in the nose, making the blood come out immediately.
- "You're a dead man, you don't know who you're messing with," the man takes out a military identification badge, smiles mockingly, and returns the blow, but Max reduces him to nothing in less than ten seconds. "Let me go!"
- "Only if you promise to leave the ladies alone and go away from here," he whispers in his ear, causing a cold shiver in the man. "I don't usually pay respects to military men, especially not to those like you."
- "I'm leaving!"
- Max lets him go and the man leaves, leaving the atmosphere somewhat tense, but as soon as Max sits down and smiles at the girls, they start dancing for him.
- One of them straddles him, still moving to the music. Her breasts are at the height of the man's face, who doesn't wait any longer and bites a nipple through the fabric.
- His hands go to the girl's waist, start to go down, and what follows next is not suitable for all audiences, because the other three don't just stand there watching.
- In the haze of alcohol, Max decides that it's not a good idea to drive home, so he calls a taxi. Upon arriving at the building, he gives a wad of bills to the taxi driver, who tries to give them back, but Max tells him he deserves it for driving drunks at six in the morning.
- When he enters the building, the doorman nods at him and helps him to the elevator.
- "Was the party good today, sir?"
- "Like you can't imagine..." he puts a hand on the doorman's shoulder, smiles, and gets into the elevator when the doors open.
- The doorman marks the penthouse, where Max lives, and shakes his head as the doors close.
- "So young and good"looking, but getting lost in that life, how sad.""
- The doors open and Max stumbles into the foyer of his refuge. His loyal friend Ferny greets him with a wagging tail, licks on the hand, and, as if knowing that his master is not well, helps him to the bedroom, before disappearing into the apartment.
- As best he can, the man takes off his clothes, puts on a cotton pants, and throws himself to sleep, hoping that tonight the brown eyes of that woman won't torment him, because for years not even alcohol or the kisses of other women have helped him forget her.
- But in that quest to forget, sometimes he goes too far.
- And someone is not happy at all.
- "Max Hunter!!"
- Lucy Hunter's shout echoes in her son's room, who jumps out of bed scared and falls to the floor.
- "M"mother," the words come out rushed, because he had only gone to bed quite drunk an hour ago. "What are you doing here?""
- "What am I doing here? What am I doing here?!" She shows him her phone where the breaking news circulating on social media can be seen, and he furrows his brow.
- "They recorded me..."
- "Of course they did! I'm outraged, your brother is outraged, both of us trying to cover up your stupidities," the woman sits on her son's bed, puts away the phone, and looks at the ceiling. "I don't know why you do this, you're a handsome, intelligent, truly valuable man, but you tarnish everything with your behavior. Do you want to kill me?"
- "No, mother," Max stands up and sits next to his mother. "I just like to have fun."
- "But you do it too much, too often, and without limits. Max... I won't be with you forever, and Kevin doesn't want to keep cleaning up after your messes," the man rests his head on his mother's lap, she sighs and strokes his hair. "Why do you do this?"
- "I don't know," his voice comes out in a whisper and his mother sees him completely lost.
- "I can't believe you don't know, Max. There must be a reason why at least once a week you end up wasted and the rest of the time you're out with different women. That wasn't the example your father left for you."
- "I know... it's just that I like it," he speaks slowly and softly, so as not to trip over his words. "Can I sleep a little?"
- "Of course, I need you in excellent condition, we have the meeting with Senator Smith at two in the afternoon."
- "Wasn't it at noon?" He runs his hands over his face, trying to stay awake.
- "Yes, but his assistant called to move it, he's probably having an image crisis."
- "Not more than me, right?"
- "I wouldn't worry about your image right now," she kisses her son's forehead and stands up. "Just take care of yourself, because your brother is really furious. I'll see you at twelve in the office."
- "As you say..."
- He falls back on the bed, Lucy covers him with the blankets and leaves her son's apartment, looking back with concern, because she doesn't understand why Max, her eldest son, behaves that way.
- "Something must have happened to you, my love, and you don't want to tell me. But you will, I know you will."
- She goes down to the waiting car, the driver opens the door for her and asks to be taken to Hunter Security Solutions, still thinking about how to find the answer to that question that has been bothering her for a long time, when she realized her son's wild life.
- Meanwhile, Max drifts off into that restorative sleep.
- When he opens his eyes, his head throbs a little, a result of the loud music of the night and the extra drinks, which were many.
- He gets up, goes to the shower, lets the water fall on his body, while his forehead rests against the tiled wall, giving him a certain freshness and relief from the pain he feels.
- If someone could see that man in that pose, they would truly have a heart attack.
- He steps out of the shower, quickly dresses in a three"piece suit, white shirt, and his favorite dark burgundy tie. He looks at himself in the mirror and smiles, because he loves to look good, he knows he's handsome, he would be a fool to be modest."
- He puts on his watch and when he sees the time, he yells.
- "Sh*t, I'm a dead man!"
- If there's one thing his mother detests, it's tardiness, and he does too, but the shower took longer than he thought, because he was thinking about a thousand things, the same things he thinks about every day.
- He runs to the elevator, checks that he has all his things in his pockets, and when the doors open in the underground parking lot, he rushes to his car and speeds out onto the street. The sunlight bothers him a little for a few seconds, so he puts on some calm music, not the kind he detests, but it helps to drown it out.
- As he approaches the Hunter Security Solutions building, the streets become clearer and he increases his speed. Until he reaches an empty intersection, or so he thought.
- He runs the "stop" sign and a car crosses in front of him, he slams on the brakes, but can't avoid the impact.
- After struggling with the airbag, he gets out of the car and freezes.
- A blonde woman, with beautiful blue eyes, white skin, short and very angry, walks straight towards him.
- "Are you okay, miss?" is all that comes out of his mouth, even though he wants to run towards her, hug her, and make sure nothing bad happened to her.
- "Am I okay? Are you kidding me?! Did you run the red light, you idiot?! I have a super important appointment and I won't make it on time because of you!!"
- "Hey, crazy lady," Max says approaching her and somewhat disappointed because she's not single. If she's going on a date, it's obvious she has someone. So, since he can't win her over, he decides to bring out that hateful side of him, "didn't your mom teach you to look both ways before crossing?"
- "And didn't your dad teach you how to drive?!" Max would like to answer no, because he died when he was thirteen, but it's not worth telling a stranger that.
- "Look, I don't have time for arguments, let's exchange information and let the insurance take care of everything."
- "The insurance?! You mean yours, because I wasn't the one who ran the red light, I was driving at the right speed..."
- Max loses track of the conversation and if he says anything else, he doesn't know what it is, because the woman's personality has completely captivated him. Her size doesn't intimidate him, her appearance doesn't enchant him... none of the things that work with all the other women work with her.
- The last thing he sees of her is her threatening him with her index finger and walking to her car.
- Max stands there, holding the girl's card in his hands and a silly smile on his face.
- "That's the woman I want for myself, where can I find you..." he looks at the card and smiles, "Giselle Sparks? This must be my lucky day..."
- He gets into his car and drives away, calling his mother to tell her he'll be a little late due to an unexpected event. It's only a matter of time before he can run into her, and it will surely be a bombshell to have him as her boss.
- What he doesn't know is that Giselle Sparks doesn't have bosses. He will learn that with a blow to the groin, but that's still a little ways off.
