Chapter 8 Where Am I?

  • As soon as she stepped on the accelerator, the car behind her did the same to the point that its bumper was rubbing against the rear of her car.
  • "What the hell is wrong with this guy?" she wondered, furrowing her brow as she maneuvered the steering wheel trying not to tip over.
  • Casey looked through the side mirrors of the car, but it was useless, she couldn't make out that car. That's when she felt a slight bump on her car, that was the last straw. If it really was that idiot Cauther, she was going to have a lot of problems with her father for that hit-and-run. The young woman began to slow down, and the car behind her imitated her. Soon, she tried to pull over. "I'm going to confront that idiot once and for all," her subconscious complained.
  • She looked in the rearview mirror and saw that the car stopped at a certain distance from hers. Casey unbuckled her seatbelt and made a move to get out, but then out of nowhere the car behind her fiercely crashed into her car, causing the dark-haired woman to hit her forehead against the steering wheel, becoming somewhat unconscious. After a few seconds, Casey lifted her head slightly, seeing the highway blurred, feeling a warm liquid running down from her head to cross her eyes and end up sliding down her cheek.
  • "What?!" she asked herself, bewildered.
  • Suddenly, the glass of her window shattered into thousands of pieces, she shielded her face from the glass shards, and then she noticed a male figure unlocking the car door. She didn't understand what was happening, were they helping her? Her body was pulled out of the car in an ordinary way, and she heard a fabric tearing. She barely opened her eyes, noticing that she was being dragged away from her car, then she looked down and saw her legs half-naked being dragged along the asphalt.
  • She had left her heel far behind, and the other one was still on her foot. Casey forced herself to blink frantically, trying to wake up from what seemed to be a horrible nightmare, but when she was abruptly pushed into another car, she knew it wasn't a dream. Everything was real, they were taking her away.
  • "No, please," she managed to say at last, in a pleading tone.
  • "Put her to sleep," someone ordered, and then they placed a cloth over her mouth and nose.
  • If she had seen everything blurry before, with that horrible smell she saw even worse. Soon, Casey couldn't see anything anymore, and everything had turned black around her. She closed her eyes, plunging into a deep, terrifying darkness.
  • [...]
  • Cauther didn't lose sight of Casey's car as it drove away from the entrance of the house. The dark-haired man took a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it, as he exhaled the smoke, a half-smile crossed his lips.
  • "What an interesting woman," he said, and just then, Rafael appeared by his side.
  • "Cauther, have you seen my daughter?"
  • "She left," he replied, inhaling again from his cigarette, while he watched the mansion's exit where Casey's car was no longer visible.
  • "Casey is spoiled, she's just a child," Cauther glanced at him, he had a different opinion.
  • "I must go now, I only came because you asked me to, Rafael," he decided to ignore his friend's comment.
  • "Yes, thank you for coming."
  • Cauther walked to where his car was parked, immediately got in and started it, following the same path that Casey had taken... several minutes of driving later, Cauther saw the red lights of a poorly parked car on the side of the road. He slowed down a bit, it was dark enough to see nothing. So he wasn't sure if someone was in an accident and walking around looking for help.
  • But as something slow passed by the side of that car, Cauther immediately slammed on the brakes of his car upon seeing the model of the car. He then got out of his car and ran towards that car. As he approached the interior, he realized that Casey was nowhere to be found. He noticed the damage, noticing that the car had a big dent in the back, the window was broken, and the steering wheel was splattered with blood.
  • "Casey!" he muttered.
  • He then looked at the ground and spotted one of her shoes. He followed the direction of the shoe's path, but couldn't see anything... He took out his phone and shone the light on the road, just as he suspected. There were black tire marks. Someone had rear-ended Casey's car and ended up dragging her out of the car.
  • "Damn it, they've taken her," he said, clenching his fists.
  • He retraced his steps to get back into his car, quickly dialed a number on his phone, and then started the car.
  • [...]
  • She was swaying from side to side, as if she were being carried. Suddenly, Casey felt a terrible churning in her stomach that made her vomit in seconds, and that's when she opened her eyes to find herself several inches off the ground. What was happening? Where was she?
  • "Damn it, the stupid girl has vomited on my damn pants," the man carrying her exclaimed, and immediately he pushed her to the ground, causing her to collide her backside against the hard concrete. "Stupid bitch, how dare you vomit on me?"
  • The man made a move to slap her, but a hand stopped him in mid-air. Casey quickly moved away, terrified of her attacker and not understanding what was happening. Why did they want to hit her? Why was she in such a gloomy place? Who were these guys? But above all, who the hell was she? She didn't remember anything, not how she got there, nor why they had her in that place.
  • "Don't hit the merchandise, animal. If she has bruises, her price won't be the same."
  • "The bitch vomited on me," the man objected angrily.
  • "I don't give a shit about your damn pants. I don't want you to hit her. So go get the doctor, that wound on her head looks serious."
  • "She just hit her head on the steering wheel, it's nothing."
  • "GO GET THE DAMN DOCTOR!" he shouted exasperated.
  • The man reluctantly nodded, and as he left, Otto turned his gaze back to the young dark-haired girl. She was overcome with fear, but that terror made her look more appealing. They would surely pay a good fortune for a girl as well-kept as her, she exuded class. The man looked at her attire, she was not like the other girls, she was of a very different class.
  • She wore very shiny earrings, he hesitated to think they were fake. Otto squatted in front of her, but his approach made the girl even more scared.
  • "Being afraid of me won't save you from anything, you better get used to seeing my face."
  • "Where am I?"
  • "What's your name?" Casey looked at him, showing total confusion on her face. "You better tell me your name nicely, you don't want to know what I usually do to make girls like you talk."
  • "I...I don't know," she stammered. "I don't know my name," she added, shedding tears.
  • Otto sensed that her words were genuine, the girl had lost her memory. It was really a good blow she had taken, however, it was a good point in his favor. If she didn't remember anything about her life, she would be easier to manipulate. The man bit his lips, observing those very shiny earrings. He approached her a little more and snatched them off.
  • "Ah!" Casey complained, crying even more.
  • "You won't need them here," he said, standing up and putting the earrings in his pockets, just then the doctor appeared behind him.
  • "Otto..."
  • "I'll leave you alone with her, she's lost her memory."
  • He turned around and left that room devoid of a bed or chairs... it was just a room without windows, more like a prison cell. Casey looked at the new man who appeared at the entrance and felt even more scared, as that man was dressed as if he were a doctor.
  • "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you."
  • "Who are you?"
  • "I am a doctor, I will just check that wound you have on your forehead."
  • "I don't want to, I want to leave here," Casey refuses, stepping back a little more and hitting her back against the wall.
  • "Calm down," he approaches her so quickly that she can't escape anywhere.
  • "No, please don't, let me go," she says through tears, but without seeing what the doctor was doing until she feels a pinch in her arm, followed by dizziness and numbness. "What did you do to me?" She frowned when suddenly her body completely relaxed.
  • "Everything will be fine, calm down," he whispers, stroking her hair.
  • Everything started to turn dark, and her eyelids became very heavy to the point where she couldn't keep her eyes open. Casey babbled nonsensical words as she fell unconscious into the doctor's arms.
