Chapter 7 Do You Want Your Coat?

  • "Is something wrong, daughter?" Rafael looked at her with certain suspicions.
  • "I don't want to dance with this man, all I want is to go home, father," she whispered so their conversation wouldn't become public.
  • "Casey!" Rafael's reproachful voice did not intimidate his daughter.
  • "Don't worry, Rafael, I was planning on leaving anyway. There's nothing keeping me at this party," Cauther argued as reluctantly as ever.
  • That comment made Casey's blood boil, so much so that she glanced at Cauther, noticing a prominent vein on his forehead. Had he gotten angry because she said she didn't want to dance with him? Well, if that was the case, she didn't care. Let the jerk screw himself, he deserved it for being a thief of intimate garments.
  • "Casey, I won't allow you to speak that way. What will Cauther think of your behavior? Remember that someday you will be partners, you can't..."
  • "Have you ever thought about how I feel, father? Since my mother died, have you at least thought about my feelings?"
  • The dark-haired girl replied to her father rebelliously. She was tired of being the obedient daughter, even when he thought of treating her so coldly. Sometimes she felt like he didn't love her, the emptiness inside her was terrifying. She had a father, but she didn't enjoy his love and affection, so why the hell did she have him? It was all a damn facade.
  • "Casey, how dare you speak to me like that?" The man took a step towards her.
  • Cauther sensed rebellion in Casey Monroe's accusations, he had never seen her act so disobediently towards her father. In fact, he was quite surprised by her attitude, he always believed she was a very submissive woman, or at least that's what Rafael made her out to be. But the father himself had been mistaken about his little rebellious daughter.
  • "I'm leaving, father!"
  • Casey passed by her father, sparks flying everywhere, she radiated fury, irritation, agitation... Cauther was sure that if someone cut a piece of her skin, it wouldn't shed a single drop of blood. Yes, he was surprised, he couldn't deny it.
  • "Cauther, I'm sorry. I don't know what's gotten into my daughter," he replied with a dejected expression, it was more than obvious that he was dismayed by his only daughter's behavior.
  • "Don't worry, Rafael."
  • "What happened, Rafael? Why did Casey leave so suddenly?" Genaro joined them as soon as he noticed his niece walking away with her head held high and the sound of her heels echoing, she was the center of attention.
  • "It's nothing, Genaro..." The man shook his head. "She..." He looked down the hallway where Casey disappeared.
  • "Do you want me to go after her? Talk to her to come back?"
  • "No, it's fine."
  • [...]
  • It was unbelievable, her father was inconsiderate towards her. Her heart couldn't bear so much pain, but also so much anger. What kind of father was he not to realize that he showed her no affection at all?
  • "And to top it off, he makes me want to dance with that Cauther out of sheer obligation. It's so irritating that it makes me angry, what a damn nuisance that he has to be my partner in a few years. I have no idea how we're going to get along if things continue this way."
  • She lifted the train of her dress to descend the stairs so quickly that she thought she would trip due to the recklessness of her steps, but she didn't care, she didn't want to have to deal with her father if he followed her. Well, although that would never happen, Rafael wasn't the kind of man to do that.
  • As soon as she reached her car, she disarmed the alarm and before she could get in, someone made her turn around, facing that person.
  • "So you're running away!" Cauther cornered Casey between his car and his huge body.
  • "What the hell is wrong with you?" She tried to break free from his trap, but his captor's powerful arms prevented her. "What do you want?" She blinked furiously.
  • "Do you not want me to return your garter?" He takes the garment out of his jacket to show it to her, suddenly Casey's cheeks turned red, grateful for the darkness of the parking lot that prevented it from being noticed —. That tells me that you want them back.
  • He was a damn son of a bitch, waving his intimate garments like that. What the hell was that idiot trying to accomplish? In front of her father, he was one person and in front of her, he was another. In a quick movement, the dark-haired woman tries to snatch the garter from his hand, but it was useless.
  • "Give them back to me — she demands.
  • "What makes you think I plan on giving them back to you?"
  • "Well, well! What a surprise, I didn't think my father's best friend had that kind of fondness for women's clothing. It seems that the mysterious Cauther Lance Acrom hides a dark past."
  • She expected an unfavorable reaction from the man, a rude reply or a violent impulse. But nothing happened, the only different thing she noticed was the vein pulsating on Cauther's forehead, he was so stoic that it truly surprised her.
  • "I must admit you have surprised me tonight — he replies, putting the garter back in his pocket under the watchful gaze of the dark-haired woman.
  • "I doubt it, so far I haven't perceived any different expression on your face than the usual reserved one — she replies sarcastically.
  • "I am not like the other men you have met — he approaches Casey so closely that she feels him between her thighs —. I have many expressions, but you won't be able to decipher any of them, no matter how hard you try — he whispers very close to her lips.
  • Casey swallows hard and then opens her mouth slightly, feeling Cauther's warm breath on her own mouth. It smelled of alcohol and cigarettes, but nothing compared to the strong scent of his cologne. Damn, he was driving her crazy.
  • "I told you not to touch me again — she didn't finish her words, as Cauther's thumb rested on her lips, making her tremble —. We are in the parking lot.
  • "And what does that mean? Hey! Do you want to go somewhere else, Casey?" he asks somewhat slyly — "You've been provoking the men at this party all night with that slit in your dress, you should have thought twice before wearing this outfit."
  • She shakes her head slightly as Cauther puts his thumb in her mouth, he began to play with her tongue in such a unique way that the dark-haired woman's knees were weak. Automatically, she closes her eyes when she feels him take hold of her hip, pressing her forcefully against what was his damn erection. What the hell was happening? Cauther was excited, and was she responsible?
  • No, no, that couldn't be happening. She shouldn't be having that kind of encounter with her father's partner, damn it, he was the damn owner of half of her father's company. And in a few years, she would be his partner, something she always kept in mind was that it was never advisable to get involved with a partner, because things never ended well for either the couple or the company.
  • It was imperative that she stop that madness, she couldn't, she shouldn't have anything with Cauther. Slowly, Cauther's hand descended to her buttock, which helped her come to her senses, she opened her eyes and that's when she saw that half-moon smile on the lips of that man. What?! What did that mean? The bastard was enjoying the damn game he was playing with her.
  • Gathering all her willpower, she pushed Cauther enough to give her the opportunity to get into the car, and with the same haste, she drove away. Her heart was beating hard as she distanced herself from Genaro's mansion. She gripped the steering wheel firmly, she was so nervous and confused that she feared crashing because she didn't have control of the car.
  • It was very late at night, and Casey was driving at high speed on the highway back home. The nerves still haunted her from her encounter with Cauther in the parking lot, wondering what the hell he was up to with his attitude. She accelerated the car as she bit her lip with uncertainty about what he was planning. It couldn't be anything good, she speculated.
  • "Idiot, his egotistical behavior is so irritating — she hits the steering wheel.
  • A LED light blinds her in the rearview mirror, she looks down because it was impossible for her to look through it. She furrows her brow as her heart starts beating like crazy, Casey swallows hard sensing that Cauther was hunting her. The mere thought of knowing that he was behind her made her nervous, so she stepped on the gas.
