Chapter 37

• Arius came over and scooped me up into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck and squeezed as I pushed my face into his throat. I was trying not to cry but the reality of what could have happened, what had happened to others washed over me. My breath caught in my throat and the tears started to fall.
• Arius leaned his cheek to rest against mine as he walked. “Babe, don’t cry.”
• I did what everyone does when someone tells you not to cry. I started crying harder.
