Chapter 6 Chairman's Decision

  • Rodri's POV
  • As I flushed the used condom down the toilet, I smirked. I was always extra careful with women because I didn’t want anyone stealing my semen for their own use and later come up to say I was a father.
  • There were a whole lot of gold diggers out there.
  • In another room attached to my office for nights I sleep over, I changed into fresh office clothes. Trinity was gone by the time I got back to the office. It was funny of her to think she had a chance to birth my child even if I wanted one. I would choose a hundred girls before her.
  • I loved my life the way it was. I wasn't answerable to anyone and could live my life as I pleased.
  • I had watched most of my friends who were in relationships, love just one person. I couldn't fucking see the benefits in that when you could get as many women as you wanted.
  • Most of them were ready to throw themselves at me just for my looks alone, not to mention when they found out who I was, so who was I to reject any, when I could have them all?
  • Settling back down in my executive seat, I opened my laptop and started the work I was on. I needed to sign off some documents for the commencement of one of my biggest projects this year.
  • I was sure no one would be expecting the project I had embarked on at present as it was almost impossible to achieve and I would like to see the shocked expression on everyone's face when I finally unveiled it. It was going to be damn perfect, and I could already imagine the look on everyone’s faces.
  • Especially Dad’s .
  • My thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of the office phone. I grabbed it, answering in official monotone. "Yes?”
  • "Sir, It’s Gina. I just got information that the chairman is around and he is heading up here to see you in a moment." She informed me.
  • My eyebrows pulled together. “Trinity? Is she in the building?" I inquired.
  • I wouldn't want her lurking around and risk being found by the chairman. He wouldn't tolerate that. I had received several warnings already not to flirt with his employees, but I couldn't resist some.
  • Especially not Trinity. She was a star employee at Dolphin hospitals. Dad would definitely find it suspicious to find her here in the business headquarters building.
  • "No, sir. She left a few moments ago." Gina replied.
  • Relieved, I answered, “Good.”
  • Then I ended the call and got up from my chair trying to place things in order. The chair Trinity had sat on was bent at an awkward angle, so I put it back in place and sat back to await his arrival.
  • I turned my attention to the door when it swung open moments later.
  • "Dad.” I grinned, getting up to walk toward him. He extended his arm in greeting, and we had a man hug. "How was your trip?"
  • He laughed. "Great. I decided to come here immediately the jet landed. You know if you are doing a perfect job around here, as expected. And to see how my son’s faring. I love the reports I have been getting so far. You have been making me proud, son," He patted my shoulder firmly and I smiled.
  • I had one of the best relationships with my father and we were like buddies. I grew up pretty close to him.
  • He sat on the pristine white couch close to the wall, while I stood beside my desk facing him.
  • He looked around the impressive office for a while, and then looked back at me. “So tell me, son. How is your search for a wife coming along? All my friends were bragging about their grandchildren but I couldn’t, all because my only child prefers to go into every skirt on the street instead of settling down.”
  • “Dad.” I said flatly, tapping my leather Italian shoe on the glass floor.
  • "Let me finish.” He waved me off. Then continued, "I am wondering how you haven't gotten a child yet or at least impregnated someone when you are always sleeping around.”
  • I shrugged my shoulders, nonchalantly. “I play safe. It’s that simple.”
  • Dad sounded fed up. "Then don't play safe and get me a child. I need a grandchild before I pass away.” He suddenly paused and sniffed the air. Repeatedly. “What is this weird smell in your office? It’s faint, but unmistakable.”
  • I froze watching him. Years of being a doctor had made him sensitive to every smell. Fuck. And years of also being a shrewd businessman had made him sensitive to the change in my expression.
  • "Don't tell me you brought a girl into your office?" He asked suspiciously.
  • I averted my gaze to the floor length window, staying silent.
  • His voice went low. "I am disappointed in you, Rodri. I truly am.”
  • Something twisted inside me and I apologized. "I’m sorry.” Dad only called me Rodri when he was mad as hell.
  • "I don't want to hear a word from you.” He got up from the couch. “Your habits are terrible, but never did I expect such disrespect and irresponsibility from you. For desecrating this office, you will be punished. I am giving you just a month to get someone who would bear me a grandchild or you risk losing the company.”
  • I frowned. "I am your only child."
  • He turned to me. His eyes blazed furiously. "I can make anyone my heir! One month is all you get. After one month and I don't get a response, you will lose your rights to Benson, your cousin.”
  • With that, he stormed out of the office.
  • I turned around and punched my fucking seat. Fucking Trinity in here was a fucking mistake. For now, I have to look for a woman who would get pregnant with a child so I could secure my rights as the heir and CEO of Dolphin's Group.
