Chapter 59 Vindictive And Ruthless

  • Fire alighted his eyes, fiery and volatile. His chest rose and fell heavily. When he pulled back as suddenly as he'd leaned forward, the grey skies behind him opened, so that the rain pelting the window disguised the erratic pounding of her heart.
  • "You want to know how I know you? Fine." They dove in, mutually angry and bewildered. "That day, I arrived at Sandra's building because I was leaving the country for work, and I knew I'd be gone for a few months. Like I said the last time you and I met, she and I never got along well. Whether that was mostly my fault or not I suppose doesn't really have much of a bearing on this part." He shrugged.
  • "She'd been quiet for the last couple of months. Too quiet. I knew my sister, and I knew that likely meant trouble in one form or another. But then I started wondering if maybe it was just me. Maybe I was just a resentful asshole who couldn't see past what her mother and our father did."
