Chapter 24 Burn His Clothes

  • "Well, that's sure as hell true," she grinned. "So hey, being you're sort of new to the neighborhood, and you've got this great, new do," she teased, "why don't you come out with me and some friends this weekend? We tend to stay local and do some bar-hopping, gallery-hopping slash wine-tasting, and then wander into random restaurants to catch one of the local bands 'til either the sun comes up or we get thrown out."
  • Nadia’s first impulse was to thank her for the invitation but then turn her down. Her world was expanding, yes, but she would create a sort of safety bubble that consisted of Monday through Thursday runs with Theodore, the coffee shop, Dr. Samantha's office, and her borrowed apartment.
  • Her mouth, however, had different impulses. "That sounds great. I'd love to." And as soon as the words were out of her mouth, she realized they were true.
