Chapter 12 The Woman In The Red Robe

• The next day, the man left for the luxurious building in the city center where Sofia and Max's engagement party was taking place. He arrives in a pink Porsche borrowed from the system and Julian is the driver. When he got there, he was greeted with warm smiles and hospitality from the well-dressed party staff. He was shown to his front-row seat, the perfect spot to see everything clearly.
• Inside, Sofia Martinez looked gorgeous with her hair in a high ponytail, showing off her slender neck. The shimmering white dress she wore made her look like a queen. The dress was designed with exquisite details, with delicate sequins and a flowing skirt, creating an elegant and luxurious silhouette.
• At first, Sofia did not notice James' presence. However, some people began to whisper excitedly and all sorts of rumors began to circulate around the room, saying that there was someone very handsome and classy who had just arrived there. This made her curious and she set out to find out who it was.
• When Sofia found him, she had no idea that it was James they were talking about. Max, who was standing next to Sofia, was dismissive of James' existence. "Your ex-boyfriend has the nerve to keep coming here," Max says sarcastically.
• Sofia is dumbfounded to see James. Not only his presence, but also his elegant and very handsome appearance. She had never seen James look like this before. The black suit James wore made him look more mature and charismatic. His hair, which was usually disheveled, now looked neat. His smile, which is usually full of cheerfulness, now looks calm and mature.
• Sofia couldn't deny that James' appearance today completely changed her view of him. She couldn't deny the fact that James, her ex-boyfriend, looked more attractive than she remembered.
• Max noticed that Sofia seemed transfixed looking at James. He admonished his fiancée, "Well, it looks like someone is in awe of the former janitor at my father's hospital."
• Hearing Max's reprimand, Sofia immediately turned to her fiancé and smiled. "Max, what are you talking about? How could I be impressed by such fake good looks."
• Max raised one eyebrow, waiting for further explanation from Sofia.
• Sofia said again, "James is just a poor man. If he's wearing nice clothes today, it's probably because he borrowed them or begged someone to let him wear them."
• Max laughed with satisfaction at Sofia's words. He felt his fiancée was right. A janitor like James could not possibly own such a luxurious suit with the finest materials. Moreover, it was obvious that it was a design from a famous tailor that was very expensive. Max was satisfied with Sofia's explanation and went back to enjoying the party with a relieved heart. But in his heart, he couldn't deny that James looked very handsome that night.
• James was making small talk with a few people who happened to greet him and he just happened to notice that Sofia was watching him. Without hesitation, he walked over to Sofia and Max.
• "Good evening Sofia, Max," James greeted them when they were near him. "Congratulations on your engagement. I like the concept of the event, it's quite elegant and you look very beautiful tonight Sofia. I hope Max can take care of you."
• Instead of being happy, Sofia felt humiliated. Her previous plan was to humiliate James, making him think a hundred times about insulting Max. But now she had to face the fact that James looked absolutely stunning today.
• "No need for pleasantries James, I invited you just because we know each other," Sofia said in a cold tone.
• "Oh, sure," James responded to Sofia's words with a sweet smile. He wasn't surprised by her attitude.
• Max looked at James as if he was dirt. "James, welcome and please enjoy the banquet we have prepared. If you're hungry and need something to wrap up, just tell the waiters. Maybe they can get you some leftovers," Max said sarcastically.
• Max and Sofia couldn't help but smile. They felt satisfied when they managed to insult James like that. They thought that James would feel embarrassed and humiliated. However, the opposite happened.
• James smiled slightly. "Wow, you're really generous," he said casually, not bothered by Max's taunts. He remained calm and unprovoked. He showed a different demeanor than they expected. He showed no shame or humiliation, instead he seemed calm and confident.
• James' reaction made Max and Sofia think again about mocking him. Since Sofia didn't want today's atmosphere to be chaotic, she embraced Max. "James, Max and I have to meet the other guests," Sofia said in a cold tone.
• "Yeah," Max added, "The other guests are more important. We can't possibly accommodate you here."
• "Okay, go ahead then," James didn't intervene. But first he took something out of his pocket and gave it to Sofia.
• Sofia at first just watched, unwilling to accept. However, James insisted, "Sofia, because I'm in a hurry so I can't choose a special gift for you. But, I hope what I've given you will be comforting enough."
• Sofia accepted the gift and thanked him with a sardonic smile, then she took Max by the hand to quickly leave James' presence.
• Max asked her, "What did he give you?"
• Sofia stopped her steps, curious too. "Maybe it's just fake jewelry," she said as she unwrapped the gift. However, when she opened it, it turned out...
• Max and Sofia rounded their eyes. How could James give them a gold-plated watch? Isn't it very expensive?
• "It must be a fake!" exclaimed Max. However, in his heart, he and Sofia were not convinced. They felt surprised and confused by what had just happened. They never thought that James, the man they mocked as a former janitor, could give such a beautiful and expensive gift.
• James looked at Max and Sofia whose faces were flushed with embarrassment. He laughed inwardly, feeling satisfied. The luxurious gift given by Julian seemed to have succeeded in making them feel uncomfortable. This was the moment James had been waiting for, his revenge was finally perfect.
• He savored the offerings at the event, feeling satisfied with the results. James chose to try the drinks first. However, just as he reached for his glass, a woman in a red robe that covered her entire body bumped into him.
• Immediately, James' advanced detection system activated and identified the woman. His system displayed the information: [Patient Name: Mia Peter. Disease Type: Rare skin disease, non-contagious].
• James furrowed his brows, feeling confused and surprised. He never expected to meet a woman like this at the event.
