Chapter 42
- We sat in the car, and I let him play his songs, absolutely surprised to discover acoustic soulful songs right between angry rap. If that didn't represent Pete's two sides, I didn't know what did.
- We had entered a sort of hilly terrain, so I knew we were heading west. It was beautiful here, and the moon was shining brightly, and the sun had fully set. I fully expected to see some naked kids just going at it in between the bushes, but there was not a single soul.
- I felt...alright. Not scared. I didn't feel like Pete was going to throw tomatoes at me and leave me in the middle of nowhere. Then again, would I have felt this safe if he hadn't taken his oath?
