Chapter 8
- Rex's POV.
- "Good morning, Rex. Is there any good news?" Alice asked the moment she picked the call.
- "Good news?" I chuckled softly. "Do you think Elena would easily let me back into her life?" I scowled. "I saw her yesterday but then, I could tell she wasn't happy seeing me and she took the kids away from me." I responded as I arranged my hair.
- "What else do you expect? You caused this. I warned you from the beginning. Better don't get back here without my beautiful daughter in-law and her two little, adorable kids." She said in a threatening tone.
- "Kanu and Kiana." I muttered with a smile as I had flashbacks of them.
- "What!?" She asked in a confused tone.
- "Oh! She named them Kanu and Kiana." I answered with a smile on my face. "They are just 4 years old, and they look too big and healthy." I muttered.
- It was something beautiful and I wished I had watched them grow this big and smart.
- It was obvious that she was perfectly fine without me.
- "And how do you intend to get her back?" Alice asked through the phone.
- There was no answer to that exactly. I gulped in my saliva as I sipped a little water.
- "How do I intend to get them back? I… maybe through the kids." I stuttered.
- I wasn't sure if it was going to work out but then, I just had to give it a try.
- "Well, all I am concerned about is that you bring back my daughter in-law and grandchildren. I will handle the company here. And don't forget to keep in touch with me, young man." She scowled before ending the call.
- "Here it is." Clark walked in, dropping a brown small envelope on the table.
- I hurriedly opened it as I took out the paper inside containing every little detail about them.
- I couldn't slack behind now even if I was in Kingston. I had sent Clark to trace her down to her house, and also, get me the name of the school my kids attend, where she works, where she goes when she wants to get her groceries as well and also to get me some information on who the lady she was with from yesterday.
- I wanted to know every little detail about her. And most especially, protect my kids.
- The moment their identity gets known, they will attract so many enemies and that was why I was here and also to bring them back to my pack where they would be safe.
- "New Kingston Preliminary School." I recited it out as I perused the direction from my newly bought apartment to the school.
- I frowned as I saw they were attending a public school and not a private, big school. I tilted my lips as I looked at every little detail and also, taking notes of schools and places around.
- “What? Why that face?” Clark snapped as he looked at the paper-like map.
- “Why couldn't she take them to a private school? These public schools harbor bullies and they pay little or no attention to the child.” I frowned.
- “That is you just being over protective, Rex.” He shrugged as he looked away.
- "What do you plan on doing next?" Clark questioned as he sat down next to me.
- I ignored him as I perused the direction to her house. I smirked as I saw we weren't far from each other, it was just an hour drive.
- "Rex?" Clark called out to me as he rolled his eyes. "I hope you are not planning anything stupid?" He questioned as he looked at me.
- ""Anything stupid?" I furrowed my eyebrows as I locked my eyes with his. "How come her employment field is empty?" I asked, wearing a long face now.
- "Currently, she is a stay at home mom of your assumed kids." He snapped. "But, I have someone around her apartment, she will keep us updated on her movements." He muttered.
- "Good!" I briefly said as I got up.
- I had Clark know every single detail about their school. When they open for the day, if they have visiting hours and also when they close for the day.
- And most importantly, I searched for good restaurants as well. They were my kids and I was ready to do anything for them.
- "Is there any other thing I need to know which isn't here?" I asked Clark as I wrapped the paper neatly.
- "Uhmm yes. I think you should not try being so romantic. That will be really embarrassing." He chuckled softly.
- I sighed as I returned back to my room. I neatly arranged my hair in its wavy style as I picked the best outfit in my wardrobe.
- I wore my black turtle neck top and a black tailored black coat and a well fitted black trouser and a newly acquired black shoe I got from one of the biggest brands in New Kingston when I came back.
- "Huh? Why are you dressed up this way like you are going for some serious meetings?" Clark shook his head.
- "I have to look attractive." I responded quickly in defense.
- "Attractive? Hell no, you look like some hardened Mafia boss. Who exactly are you going to see? Elena or the kids? If it's the kids, trust me, you'll scare them." Clark scoffed as he chuckled.
- I ignored him as I walked away, picking up the car key that hung directly next to the door.
- “Are you seriously going to wear that?” He pressed on as he looked at me.
- “How else do you expect me to dress? I need to give them this impression that with me in their life, they could never get hurt.” I scowled as I looked at my wrist watch.
- “They don't even know who you are? Why would they think that?” He snapped.
- “I am their friend. Yes. Just let me do my thing, Clark and please, stop interfering.” I sighed, rolling my eyes as I opened the door.
