Chapter 6
- Rex's POV.
- I couldn't let go of her beautiful grey eyes. It was impossible falling asleep when finally, my search for her was over.
- How could I easily forget how beautiful she has gotten within the five years of being away? Her black, wavy hair was now more appealing to me and her scent, still seductive to me.
- Her slender body mesmerized me further, making me want to have her all to myself again.
- And I felt more happy playing with her kids as I saw the striking resemblance. They both looked just like me but then, I felt these sharp pains as I was stupid enough to chase her away. If only I was patient enough, I would have spent time with my kids while they were babies.
- I couldn't help but think about what exactly she must have told them about me.
- They were smart kids. "Why wouldn't they be?" I shrugged proudly as I complimented their smartness as a quality they had taken from Elena and I.
- "How did you know our mummy?" I could still hear Kanu's voice in my head and the answer I gave him added to my frustration.
- "How could I have told them that I was their dad?" "What if Elena told them I was dead?" As far as I was concerned, I knew I was dead to Elena.
- "Who would ever believe that she would move on so easily like she never loved me a single day?" I exhaled deeply as I kept looking at the fan that turned slowly in circles.
- I had told them I was Elena's friend and that was the only thing I could tell them. All that mattered to me now was making sure that I protected them from any harm.
- I couldn't wait to call my mother to let her know that I have finally seen Elena and also letting her know that I think the two kids in the photograph look just like me and there was a hundred percent chance that they were my kids.
- I dozed off as I woke up the next morning. My head aching badly as I had a short time sleeping.
- "Oh! You are finally awake, Rex?" Clark shrugged as he looked at me.
- "Why was he looking at me in that manner? Did I do anything stupid?" I asked within as I tilted my lip, ignoring him for a while as I sat at the edge of my bed.
- I arranged my scattered blonde hair back in its wavy style as I looked at the mirror.
- I yawned, stretching and cracking my bones as I shut my eyes tight as the breeze blew the curtain, exposing my eyes to the burning early morning sun.
- "Darn it!" I cursed.
- "I see you are pretty energetic this morning." Clark said as he chuckled softly. "For a while, I thought you wouldn't wake up anytime soon." He said further, still chuckling.
- "What exactly happened to be funny this morning?" I cursed within as I looked at him through the mirror.
- "Are you making fun of me?" I turned back, looking at him as I picked up my diary that lay on the desk, raising it at him in a bid to throw it at him.
- "Making fun of you? Hell no!!" He shrugged, quickly putting away his smiley face as he now wore a straight face.
- I groaned as I rolled my eyes away.
- "You kept mentioning her name while you slept. "I love you, Elena. Elena? Elena, I love you"." He mimicked my voice as he chuckled softly.
- "Huh?" I gasped out, embarrassed a little as he mimicked me. "Hell no! I can't sleep talk. And just a day of seeing her after these five years isn't worth me mentioning her name in my sleep." I snapped, not wanting to believe anything he just said.
- "It's highly possible. I saw the way you looked at her yesterday. The connection, the intense feeling that rushed in." He defended with a broad smile as he got up from where he sat down.
- I ignored him as I got up from the bed. "That aside, we have a lot of work to get done and there is absolutely no way I am leaving New Kingston without my wife and kids." I muttered as I looked at Clark.
- He remained quiet for a while as he looked at me, trying to comprehend what I meant by “I wasn't leaving New Kingston without my wife and kids.”
- "But how sure are you that they are your kids?" He probed as he looked at me.
- "I need no one to tell me so. Didn't you also see the striking resemblance. They took almost all my features just that they had straight, black wavy hairs." I said disappointedly.
- "What if she remarried? It has been five years since you sent her away. And why do you think she will accept you back? She seems pretty fine." Clark said in a whisper as he looked at me.
- "She had no ring on her fingers. There's no way she could have remarried." I sighed, fighting the thought of it.
- All I knew was that I wanted her back. My life was already going down the drain and my business? Almost about to crumble and my mother, Alice has been the one seeing that the family business never crashed.
- “I don't think she is ready for this and even if they are your children, I don't think she will let you take them from her without a fight!!” He muttered as he looked at me. “Didn't you see the shock all over her face when she saw you with her kids and how she took them away?” He said calmly as I couldn't restrain my thoughts from going back to yesterday at the fun park.
- "Get me across mother! We need to talk." I said with a frown as I walked out of the room as I went to shower.
