- She continued crying, the tears streaming down her cheeks, and I smiled, slipping my hands into my pocket. I retrieved a cigarette from my pocket, smoking casually, billowing smoke into her face.
- She was terrified. I could see in her eyes the sense that she was in the same room with a man who had made up his mind to not let her go, that before her was a very dangerous man, a man who she wasn't supposed to talk to. She was probably wondering how she had gotten to meet me, and I smiled in response.
