• "Well, that simply means you're the mother of special children, Elena." Marie began, looking at me as I tried in vain to reshape the biscuits that had seemed to go badly because the dough hadn't been well prepared.
• "Yes, I know that. They've always been special children from the start, Marie. I know you remember that. The problem now is their father. Is he a special man? I doubt it. He didn't believe me even though he knew the love we shared was extremely genuine. Forgiveness is hard, Marie."
