Chapter 30

• As Maya made her way to visit Nicklaus after the tense breakfast, she couldn't shake the feeling of apprehension that gnawed at her insides. She knew that their encounter might not be an easy one, especially considering the strained atmosphere that had lingered between them since Romeo's arrival.
• As she approached Nicklaus's quarters, Maya took a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever might come. She knew that she had to face him, to confront the tension that simmered beneath the surface of their relationship, no matter how uncomfortable it might be.
• Pushing open the door, Maya stepped into the room and found Nicklaus sitting at his desk, his expression dark and brooding as he stared off into the distance. He looked up as Maya entered, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in her presence.
