Chapter 13
- As Maya's gaze lingered on Leo, she couldn't help but notice the subtle shift in his demeanor. His normally confident posture seemed to falter slightly, his movements becoming slightly more rigid as if he was trying to contain something deep within him. She watched as he cleared his throat nervously, his eyes flickering away from hers for a brief moment before returning to meet her gaze once more.
- Leo felt a surge of heat rise up within him as he felt Maya's eyes on him, her intense gaze penetrating through the walls he had built around his heart. He tried to focus on the task at hand, to keep his attention on the conversation they were having, but it was pure torture with Maya staring at him like that. He couldn't help but feel a stirring deep within him, a desire that he knew he had no right to indulge in.
- He had tried to control himself in Maya's presence, to keep his feelings in check and maintain a professional distance between them. After all, he was as old as her father, and it was inappropriate for him to entertain any thoughts of romantic involvement with her. But the way she looked at him, with those eyes that seemed to see straight through him, made it nearly impossible for him to resist the pull of attraction that simmered between them.
