Chapter 19
- As Nicklaus patrolled the walls of the pack house, his senses on high alert for any signs of trouble, he caught a whiff of something unusual in the air. The scent was faint, barely detectable above the crisp night breeze, but it sent a shiver of unease down his spine.
- Instinctively, Nicklaus tensed, his senses sharpening as he scanned the darkness for any sign of movement. He knew that the scent didn't belong to any member of their pack, and that could only mean one thing – an intruder.
- As he crept along the wall, his footsteps silent against the cobblestones, Nicklaus strained his ears for any sound that might betray the intruder's presence. The night was eerily quiet around him, broken only by the distant sound of crickets chirping in the darkness.
