Chapter 19 Just Call Her Natalie

  • In the reception room.
  • "Yael, be good. Mommy is just going out for a day and will come back to pick you up tonight."
  • "No, no, you can stay out for many days," Yael said without any hesitation.
  • "You little rascal, you just want to hang out with Uncle Isaac. But you promised Mommy, no mischief, and don't disturb Uncle Isaac's work, or he'll send you to Great-Grandma's house."
  • As she was speaking, Natalie pushed open the door and walked into the reception room.
  • "Huh? Natalie, what are you doing here?"
  • "Scarlett? Yael?" Natalie was equally surprised. "I work here."
  • She had come to help greet the visitors in the reception room and was surprised to see Scarlett.
  • Scarlett suddenly smiled knowingly.
  • The Fosters had been worried that the newlyweds weren't spending time together, but it seemed they had arranged for them to work together. Young people enjoyed these kinds of romantic situations, and Scarlett, having been young once, understood.
  • Since this was kept secret, it seemed they had hidden Natalie's identity well.
  • Office romance, such an exciting trend—these young people were so modern!
  • Building a relationship here was certainly more convenient than doing it at home under the watchful eyes of their elders.
  • Entirely misunderstanding the situation, Scarlett smiled meaningfully and said, "It's great that you're here, Natalie. I feel much better leaving Yael with you, so I can go about my business without worry."
  • So, Scarlett had come specifically because she knew Natalie worked here?
  • "But Scarlett … I'm at work, and it might be inconvenient to take care of Yael. How long will you be out? Maybe I can ask the CEO for some time off?"
  • Scarlett thought, Isaac is the boss, if he gives the word, who would dare object?
  • "No problem, I'll speak to your CEO."
  • With that, she confidently headed to the CEO's office.
  • Natalie was slightly surprised. It seemed Scarlett knew Isaac, and quite well, too.
  • It made sense, if they weren't acquainted, how could Scarlett walk into the reception room so easily?
  • But it wasn't unusual. These wealthy families often had long-standing connections and social ties.
  • Soon, Scarlett returned, and before leaving, she instructed Yael, "While you're here, don't tell anyone you know Aunt Natalie. Just call her Natalie, understand?"
  • "Got it! Natalie!"
  • Yael agreed without question. The various titles like aunt and uncle often confused him, so just calling her Natalie was much simpler.
  • Natalie took Yael for a little tour around the office, but Isaac soon called for Yael to come in.
  • As soon as the door opened, Yael excitedly shouted, "Uncle Isaac! I missed you so much!"
  • Isaac scooped the child into his arms. "Where did your dad go off to this time? Off having fun without you?"
  • Seeing Natalie follow them in, Isaac instructed, "Bring me a coffee … no, make that two glasses of orange juice."
  • It was clear he cared for his friend's child, which reassured Natalie.
  • After she left, Isaac suddenly remembered something and asked Yael, "Yael, in the video call last time, you said you knew that Natalie, right?"
  • Yael was about to nod but then remembered Scarlett's instructions. He nodded vigorously. "Yes! Mommy told me to call her Natalie! Uncle Isaac, come play with me!"
  • So he did know her?
  • Natalie seemed to have many secrets …
  • Isaac's eyes narrowed, filled with an emotion he couldn't quite identify.
  • "Uncle Isaac!" Yael pouted, unhappy with Isaac's distraction.
  • Snapping back to reality, Isaac quickly started to entertain him.
  • Usually, Isaac was too busy with work to spend much time with Yael, but today he had urgent tasks to handle.
  • Luckily, Yael liked Natalie and stuck to her all day.
  • However, this led to more unpleasant gossip in the office.
  • While Natalie stepped out to take a call, Yael, playing under a table in the break room, overheard two female employees speaking maliciously.
  • "Natalie is so disgusting. Is she that desperate to suck up? She even uses a child to get close to Mr. Foster."
  • The other one agreed, "Exactly, she's like a dog trailing that kid around. Does she think this will make Mr. Foster like her? He might as well just hire a nanny!"
