Chapter 9 She's Really Something
- The restaurant, chosen by Rowan, was a Froania restaurant near Galactic Group's headquarters.
- Natalie sat stiffly beside Isaac, unsure of what to do with her hands.
- Where was Juliet? She hoped her friend wouldn't fail her at such a crucial moment.
- Just then, the restaurant door swung open, and a voluptuous figure in a burgundy dress entered.
- The woman's gaze swept the room, settling on Natalie. She removed her sunglasses dramatically.
- "Oh my! Who is this? Natalie? My old classmate! Long time no see!"
- Juliet's overly enthusiastic voice filled the entire restaurant.
- After years of friendship, they still had this level of unspoken understanding. Natalie immediately rose to her feet, feigning delight at the unexpected reunion. "What a coincidence! Are you here for lunch too?"
- "Yes! What a twist of fate! I actually need your help with something, and it's nearby." Juliet unceremoniously pulled Natalie towards the exit.
- Natalie played along, looking reluctant but following without hesitation.
- "Hmm? What's the matter? Since it's so important, I can't refuse. Mr. Issac, I apologise, but I must go now!"
- Watching their hasty retreat, Rowan couldn't help but chuckle.
- "Did that girl really call in reinforcements to rescue her?"
- Isaac's face darkened considerably.
- Did she think he couldn't see through such an exaggerated and clumsy act?
- She was really something!
- In the afternoon, after returning to the office and dealing with a few documents, a secretary knocked on the door to deliver some materials.
- Hearing the knock, Isaac looked up, only to find it wasn't the clean and fresh-faced woman he had expected.
- For some reason, the meticulously made-up face that he usually found acceptable now seemed rather off-putting.
- "Call the head of the secretarial department," Isaac instructed through the intercom.
- Alvin Marshman quickly entered. "Mr. Foster, you wanted to see me?"
- "Reassign Natalie's duties. From now on, she'll handle all tasks directly related to my office."
- "Huh ... " Alvin was momentarily speechless.
- Natalie was a newcomer, theoretically only supposed to handle simple, miscellaneous tasks, not serve the president directly.
- However, no one dared to question the president's orders. The next day, the new assignment was announced.
- "Huh? I was doing perfectly fine; why am I being reassigned!"
- Cynthia's resentment towards Natalie intensified.
- Originally, she had the coveted position close to Isaac, with the perfect opportunity to admire his sought-after face.
- But now, this privilege had been given to the newcomer!
- "Let it go, Cynthia. Don't be upset. You're a senior; you should 'teach' the newcomer properly," a colleague suggested with a knowing look.
- Cynthia immediately grasped the implication.
- "Natalie! Make a cup of coffee for everyone in our department! The president drinks coffee every day, and you must fully understand his preferences!"
- As a senior, it was her duty to train the newcomer, which meant having the newcomer do everything at least once.
- Natalie's workload multiplied, and she had to endure the ridicule and exclusion from the entire secretarial department. It was pure torture.
- It was all that jinx Isaac's fault! Why did he have to reassign her? Now she had become the target of everyone's fire.
- Before she could even take a moment to internally vent her frustrations, Cynthia's sharp voice rang out again, "Is this coffee sweet enough to give us all diabetes? Make it again!"
- Carrying a tray full of coffee cups, Natalie walked out of the secretarial department, only to encounter a graceful, beautiful woman approaching.
- As they passed each other, the woman quickly assessed Natalie, her eyes flashing with a fleeting look of disdain before heading towards Isaac's office.
- As a dutiful new secretary, Natalie diligently followed her and asked, "Excuse me, miss. Are you here to see our president? Do you have an appointment?"
