Chapter 12 I'm Not Worthy Anymore

  • Naturally, after Natalie threw the drink and slapped Jerry, the business deal fell apart, and the blame landed squarely on her.
  • "Are all secretaries this difficult? How could you be so foolish to offend Mr. Jerry? Just wait until Mr. Foster gets back, you'll get what's coming to you!" Duncan yelled.
  • Jerry was notorious in their circle for being a lecher. Cynthia had arranged for Natalie to entertain him, hoping Jerry would sleep with her, giving Cynthia leverage to humiliate her later.
  • But Natalie's fiery reaction not only offended Jerry but also ruined the project.
  • Duncan couldn't bear the responsibility for this fiasco.
  • When Isaac returned from his trip, he listened to Duncan's complaints with a frown, his fingers lightly tapping the mahogany desk.
  • "Natalie, do you have anything to say in your defense?"
  • Causing trouble again and again, even if he wanted to protect her, it was becoming difficult to justify it to everyone else.
  • There wasn't a trace of fear or guilt on Natalie's face.
  • She stepped forward and threw an envelope onto the desk.
  • It was a resignation letter.
  • Isaac looked up at her coldly.
  • What was this supposed to mean?
  • She messed up and now wanted to quit?
  • He hadn't even mentioned punishing her! Where did she get this attitude from?
  • Natalie let out a cold laugh, her lips curled in disdain. "Your company's practises are improper and unethical! Someone like me, who refuses to sell her body, isn't fit to work here! I'm not worthy!"
  • Duncan's face darkened as he scolded, "What nonsense are you spouting? Such filthy language, have you no shame?"
  • "And you have the nerve to talk about shame?"
  • Natalie's anger flared even more. "You clearly told me we were going to discuss the project! When did you say anything about entertaining clients? Yes, I hit him! He should be grateful I didn't call the cops on him for harassment!"
  • Instantly, Isaac's face turned grim, and the air in the office seemed to freeze, a dangerous aura spreading.
  • "Duncan, is what she's saying true?"
  • Duncan, terrified by Isaac's barely contained rage, stammered, "Mr. Foster! Don't believe her! There was no such thing! She's just making excuses because she upset the client! Natalie, do you have any proof for your lies?"
  • "No, I don't need proof!" Natalie pounded her resignation letter on the desk. "I'm resigning! Yes, I hit him! If I see that pervert Jerry again, I'll hit him again! I'm done! Find someone else to do this disgusting job!"
  • Duncan had intended to pin all the blame on Natalie, but he hadn't expected her fiery temper. Her outburst in front of Isaac only made Isaac more convinced she was telling the truth.
  • Isaac's piercing gaze felt like a mountain pressing on Duncan's back, an oppressive force he had never experienced.
  • "Speak. What happened."
  • Just those few words were enough to completely terrify Duncan, who then confessed everything.
  • "Get out. Never let me see you in this industry again!" Isaac commanded.
  • Not only did he fire Duncan, but he also dismissed several other involved employees and took the opportunity to reform the company's culture.
  • When Isaac returned the resignation letter to Natalie, he said, "I understand you've been wronged. The company is granting you a three-day leave and two months' bonus compensation, along with a public apology from those involved. Is there anything else you're unhappy with?"
  • Natalie hadn't expected such sincerity from him. Feeling awkward about her earlier outburst, she scratched her nose. "So, the company doesn't have secretaries to entertain clients?"
  • "Not just secretaries, but also staff from the project, public relations, and any other departments. The Galactic Group relies on its strong market position and doesn't resort to such underhanded tactics," Isaac explained patiently.
  • Silently, Natalie withdrew her resignation letter, realizing she had misjudged this cold-faced CEO.
