Chapter 15 When Has Mr Foster Ever Been Angry?
- The next morning, in the president's office at the Galactic Group.
- There was an issue with a contract from the engineering department, and Isaac was furious. Even outside the office, through the glass walls, the heavy, icy pressure was palpable.
- Several department heads stood there, shivering in silence, not daring to make a sound.
- The ringing of a video call broke the suffocating atmosphere.
- Isaac, frowning deeply, took out his phone. As soon as he saw the screen, his expression softened a bit.
- He waved his hand, "All of you, leave!"
- The relieved employees hurried out of the office.
- With everyone out, it was the secretary's job to bring coffee to the president, but who would want to go in there and risk his wrath?
- "Natalie, you go! I'm not brave enough to go in right now!"
- "Yeah, me neither! It's terrifying!"
- Natalie pouted, "I don't want to. I'm scared too."
- In the end, Alvin stepped up. "Come on, Natalie. Mr. Foster likes … values you the most. You should go. Don't keep him waiting."
- Reluctantly, Natalie picked up the coffee and walked into the office.
- The video call was from Isaac's sister-in-law. He didn't need to answer to know who it was.
- "Kiddo, I'm at work. Why are you bothering me again?"
- "Hmph! You didn't come yesterday! Liar! I'm not talking to you anymore!" His nephew's indignant voice came through the headset.
- Isaac smiled helplessly, "When I came over yesterday, you were off playing somewhere. I waited for you for a long time."
- The child threw a tantrum on the other end, "I don't care! I didn't see you! You didn't come! You promised to take me out to play!"
- "Alright," Isaac relented, "what do you want then? How about I take you to the amusement park this weekend? And I'll get you the latest Transformers set, okay?"
- The crying stopped instantly. The child blinked his big eyes and held out a small finger, "Pinky promise!"
- Isaac couldn't help but laugh, "Okay, pinky promise."
- Natalie walked into the office, full of apprehension, but wondered if the people outside had made a mistake—how could Mr. Foster be angry?
- She saw Isaac wearing a headset, talking on the phone, a smile on his face, his expression relaxed, with a small dimple showing on his right cheek.
- For a moment, she was entranced. His smile was really captivating …
- Snapping out of it, she quietly placed the coffee on the table. Her figure briefly appeared on the screen.
- The nephew suddenly leaned in, his nose filling the screen, and then he shouted, "Auntie! It's Auntie! I want Auntie! She hasn't finished telling me the story about the flower mouse and the white mouse!"
- Isaac glanced at the departing Natalie in surprise. "Yael, you've got it wrong. That's my secretary."
- "No! It's Auntie! She played with me at Great-Grandma's house yesterday and picked peaches for me!" Yael insisted, his young face full of certainty.
- Filled with curiosity, Isaac chatted with Yael for a bit longer before ending the call.
- He reviewed some documents but couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Picking up the phone, he called Natalie back into the office.
- "Mr. Foster, you wanted to see me?"
- Isaac sipped his coffee and gave her a once-over. "What did you do yesterday when you took the day off?"
- "I went to a relative's house … "
- Natalie started to answer but then paused.
- She didn't want people to know about her connections to the elite or that she was the daughter of the Shepherds of Oceanic Enterprises. It felt too ostentatious.
- Mid-sentence, she changed course, "I was visiting … visiting some elders, paying my respects."
