Chapter 11 Follow to the Death

  • "Ahaha … " Natalie let out an awkward laugh. "What I mean is, Mr. Foster, you have a lively mind and sharp wit, like having two brains in one! You must be a Gemini, right?"
  • "Scorpio," Isaac corrected coolly.
  • A manipulative Scorpio? Seriously? Offending a sly Scorpio boss, she might get assassinated!
  • Pretending not to understand, Natalie passionately praised, "No matter what your sign is, my admiration for you is as boundless as the flowing river! You are the bright moon in the sky, the mighty dragon of the sea! It's my great fortune to assist you. I swear to follow you loyally to the death!"
  • Isaac remained silent, hiding the amusement in his eyes as he put on a stern face. "Enough with the nonsense. Get back to work."
  • After Natalie left, the assistant came in to give a report.
  • After discussing a few projects, Isaac hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'll be on a business trip to Davenport tomorrow and the day after. Keep an eye on Natalie from the secretary department. If anything unusual happens, let me know immediately."
  • "Understood," the assistant noted seriously.
  • He couldn't understand it. Since Natalie arrived, Isaac had been paying her extra attention and secretly giving her many privileges.
  • Wasn't he previously saying he wanted to grind her to dust? Was this some strategy he couldn't comprehend?
  • After Isaac left for his trip, everyone in the secretary department breathed a sigh of relief, including the anxious Natalie.
  • "Is Natalie here?" Duncan Gibbs from the project department knocked on the door.
  • "Yes!" Natalie responded enthusiastically.
  • Duncan discreetly assessed her. Though her attire was too plain, she did have a certain charm as Cynthia described.
  • "Come with me to meet a client tonight. Mr. Foster is on a business trip, and we need a secretary representative. It's a great opportunity for a newcomer like you to gain experience."
  • Duncan sounded so serious that Natalie didn't suspect anything and started preparing earnestly.
  • She didn't notice Duncan exchanging a look with Cynthia.
  • Taking money to do a job, he was determined to complete the task Cynthia had given him.
  • In the evening, Natalie arrived at the hotel with Duncan to meet the client, only to find it was a wild drinking party.
  • Duncan greeted the partner enthusiastically, shaking hands, "Mr. Jerry, it's an honour to have you here! This is our company's secretary, Natalie. She's new, so please guide her in the future."
  • Jerry glanced at Natalie's conservative, old-fashioned business attire, but his eyes lit up with a lecherous interest when they reached her face.
  • "Alright, Natalie, come sit next to me. I'll tell you about our project."
  • Natalie instinctively resisted, but before she could find an excuse to sit elsewhere, Duncan pushed her into the seat.
  • "Natalie, toast Mr. Jerry with a drink!" Duncan ordered.
  • Reluctantly, Natalie knew how important the project was, so she forced herself to drink a glass.
  • "Haha, you hold your liquor well!" Jerry laughed heartily.
  • "But beer is boring. Let's drink this shot of vodka!"
  • Natalie pushed the glass away. "Sorry, Mr. Jerry, I can't drink anymore."
  • "Tsk, Natalie! Don't be ungrateful! Drink it!" Duncan scolded harshly.
  • Natalie's face hardened. She was here to discuss the project, not to drink!
  • She stood up to leave, but Jerry grabbed her, pulling her onto his lap, his hand roaming up her thigh.
  • "You've got spunk! I like feisty little wildcats!"
  • Outraged, Natalie's anger boiled over. She threw her drink in Jerry's face.
  • "You pervert! How dare you touch me?"
  • Furious, Jerry reached out to pull her back into his arms.
  • With a resounding slap, Natalie struck Jerry across the face, the sound echoing in the room and leaving everyone stunned.
  • Taking advantage of Jerry's shock, she grabbed her bag and bolted for the door.
